Another first-time homebuyer success story!

The Redevelopment Authority celebrated its second first-time homebuyer closing today, providing $8,500 in assistance through the RDA’s Down Payment Assistance Program!

Congratulations to Malissa on purchasing her first home in the City of Pittston! We’re so proud to celebrate this exciting milestone and all the hard work she put in to make it happen.

The Main Street Facade Project has been active along Main Street for the last few months. Through this program, the City has leveraged grant funds to give small local community business the opportunity to invest in their facades, for years to come.

Today during construction at Meals on Wheels/ Odd Fellows Lodge, we uncovered a historic sewing facade. This finding is a wonderful example of how investing into buildings should be celebrated. Also, how investment in facades further supports the City’s unique history and character.

Façade improvement projects are an important part of revitalization. They not only enhance the appearance of commercial districts and support local businesses, but they also transform buildings in need of revitalization to vibrant assets of the community.

Each façade project adds to the continued revitalization of Pittston City and creates a more welcoming and active downtown.

The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Pittston is seeking bids for the renovation of mechanical equipment for Meals on Wheels located within Odd Fellows Lodge in Pittston PA.

Bids are invited for the prime contract of Mechanical Construction. Bids must be submitted by 10:00 AM on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Redevelopment Authority office. Façade improvement projects are continuing throughout our Central Business District thanks to a Local Share Account grant secured by the Pittston Redevelopment Authority. Over the next several weeks, six downtown businesses will receive exterior upgrades including fresh paint, new lighting, awnings, and other improvements designed to enhance the look and feel of our downtown.

These projects, being completed by D&M Construction, are expected to wrap up by the end of September and are another exciting step in the continued revitalization and beautification of Downtown Pittston.

Keep an eye out as these transformations come to life!

Exciting News for Greater Pittston! 🏡

The Pittston Redevelopment Authority is proud to announce that it has been awarded $150,000 in funding from the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) to continue expanding the successful Mod-Home Initiative throughout the Greater Pittston region.

Working in partnership with the NEPA Land Bank Authority, this funding will support the construction of the next Mod-Home at 19 E. oak in Pittston, with a second home planned for Duryea to follow.

The Mod-Home Initiative is helping create new opportunities for local residents by transforming vacant and underutilized properties into quality homes through an innovative rent-to-own model, designed to help area renters become first-time homeowners.

This award represents another important investment in our communities and a continued commitment to increasing homeownership opportunities, strengthening neighborhoods, and creating pathways to long-term stability for local families.

We’re excited to keep building on this momentum and look forward to welcoming more families home in the years ahead.
