A Little Piece of City Point History

These vintage matchbooks advertised John and Doris’s Club 54, once located along Highway 54 in City Point, Wisconsin.

Promising “A Good Place to Eat” and “Famous Hamburgers, B**r and Mixed Drinks,” Club 54 was the kind of hometown gathering place where neighbors met, travelers stopped and plenty of stories were shared.

Small keepsakes like these help preserve the businesses and people who were once an important part of everyday life in City Point.

Do you remember Club 54—or John and Doris?

They also rented rooms for people coming and going on train. the town hall foreground upper left below the date 1915 is most likely Engvold Nelson farm.
