💙 Happy Father’s Day from the Plano Police Department 💙

Today, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, caregivers, and father figures who serve our community with dedication, strength, and heart - both at home and in uniform. Fatherhood is a calling, and so is public service. To all the dads who balance both with integrity and compassion, we honor you. We are especially proud to recognize two families within our department who share not only a commitment to service, but also the unique bond of a father and child working side by side:

👮‍♂️ Public Information Officer Jerry Minton 🖥️ and his daughter, Senior Real Time Intelligence Analyst Abbey Minton
Officer Minton has served the Plano Police Department for more than 40 years, including time as a Detective in our Fraud/Forgery Unit. His dedication to this department and community spans decades, and seeing that legacy continue through Abbey is something truly special.

🙏 Plano Police Chaplain Henry J. Rogers 🚓 and his son, Officer H. Rogers, First Watch Patrol, A Sector, Platoon 1
Chaplain Rogers is the Retired Corporate Chaplain for Interstate Batteries in Dallas, TX, bringing a lifetime of service, compassion, and spiritual support to our department. His son, Officer Rogers, carries that same spirit of service into his role on patrol.

These families remind us that service often runs deep and is passed down through example and love. We are grateful for the dedication they bring to our department and for the support they give one another along the way.

To all the fathers in our department, and to the fathers across our community: Thank you for your guidance, your sacrifice, and the steady presence you bring to the lives of those who depend on you.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Father’s Day. 💙

🐾 June is Cat Adoption Month! 🐾

The Plano Police Department has partnered with the Plano Animal Shelter to help some deserving feline friends find their “fur-ever” homes. Whether you're looking for a quiet companion, a playful entertainer, or a professional biscuit maker, one of these cats may be the perfect addition to your family! Officer M. Salas visited these furry friends and had a great time giving them a ton of attention!

🐱 Pounce (A147053)
At 8-years-old, Pounce is proof that second chances matter. Originally adopted from the shelter as a kitten, he recently returned through no fault of his own due to allergies in the home. He would love a calm, quiet home where he can spend his life soaking up love and attention.

🐱 Paul (A216548)
Paul is a 6-year-old social butterfly who never turns down pets and attention. If you're looking for a friendly companion who loves people as much as he loves his scratch pad, Paul is your boy!

🐱 Buddy (A216039)
Buddy is a BIG boy with an even bigger personality! At 6-years-old, this affectionate explorer is always ready for his next adventure. Buddy would thrive with teens and adults who can keep up with his playful spirit.

🐱 Winston (A217812)
At just a year old, Winston has mastered the art of stealing hearts. This chatty young cat loves to tell you all about his day and is an expert-level biscuit maker. Winston is FIV-positive, but that doesn't slow him down one bit. He'd be happiest as the only cat in the home where he can be the center of attention.

🚔 Help us clear the shelter and fill homes with purrs. If one of these cats sounds like your perfect match, visit the Plano Animal Services and meet them in person. You may just find your new best friend waiting for you so come down and visit them all.

Contact Plano Animal Services at 972 769 4360 or visit their facility at 4028 W. Plano Parkway, Plano, TX, for more information. The Plano Animal Services facility is open seven days a week, with Saturday and Sunday hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

🐾 Because every cat deserves a loving home.

🐱❤️

LINE OF DUTY DEATH: Trooper Sergio Romero, Texas Department of Public Safety

The Plano Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the family of Trooper Sergio Romero and to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Trooper Romero was conducting traffic enforcement on U.S. Highway 287 near Childress when a tragic crash occurred. While attempting to initiate a traffic stop, a tractor trailer pulled into his path, resulting in a collision that claimed his life at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.

DPS Colonel Freeman F. Martin shared, “Today, we grieve the loss of one of our own. Trooper Sergio Romero served the people of his community and the state of Texas with courage, integrity and selfless devotion. Our hearts break alongside his family, friends, fellow Troopers and all who loved him. We will never forget the ultimate sacrifice he made in service of his fellow Texans.”

Trooper Romero had served with the Texas Highway Patrol for nine months and previously served with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. He is survived by his wife, Francisca, and their two young sons.

To Trooper Romero’s family, friends, and the entire DPS community — we stand with you. We honor his service, his sacrifice, and the legacy he leaves behind.

May he rest in peace. 💙🖤

🌟Happy Juneteenth 2026!🌟

Today, June 19, 2026, we join our community in honoring Juneteenth. This day is often recognized as our nation’s “second Independence Day,” as described by the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.

On this day in 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that all enslaved people were free, enforcing the Emancipation Proclamation signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863. That moment of long awaited freedom became known as Juneteenth.

Juneteenth stands as a powerful reminder of resilience, hope, and the enduring belief in freedom during some of the most challenging chapters of our nation’s history.

As we celebrate today, we honor its deep significance to the African American community and reflect on the fundamental truth that all men are created equal.

Wishing everyone a meaningful and uplifting Juneteenth.
