Beginning tonight, the Washington Monument will be illuminated with an 18-minute projection show featuring the people, places, and moments that shaped the American story, ending with the Monument glowing as a giant birthday candle.

Come watch any night through July 5 between 9:00 PM and 12:20 AM ET. Best viewing is along the National Mall.

Today is Day 7 of the Great American State Fair, and we’re celebrating the Horsepower of America.

• 12:00 PM — U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds () flyover, weather permitting
