Please join us in congratulating Crew Chief Kevin Kasten on his promotion to Lieutenant!

Our Fire Chief Don Todd announced the promotion of Lt. Kasten, whose career reflects unwavering dedication, professionalism, and commitment to both the department and the City of Plantation; where he and his family are long-time residents.

His deep roots in the community exemplifies the pride and responsibility he brings to the Department.

Lt. Kasten has progressed through the ranks, previously serving as Driver/Engineer, with an Aerial Operator certification, and later as Crew Chief at “The Dog House” Station 5.

He is an A-Team rescue diver, holding advanced certifications in open water and emergency rescue diving. He also serves on our drone operations team with a Part 107 UAS certification.

In 2023, Lt. Kasten was named Plantation Fire Department’s Firefighter of the Year. He was also instrumental in developing the department’s website (plantationfire.com) and assisting with recruitment videos.

In 2025, he received one of the department’s highest honors, a commendation award for exemplary actions, that resulted in saving a life.

Lt. Kasten holds a Bachelor’s degree in Policy Analysis from Indiana University and an MBA from Florida International University.

Congratulations to Lt. Kasten on this well-earned promotion and thank you for your continued service and commitment to the residents of the City of Plantation.
