The Russell Education Foundation Russell Education Foundation has been empowering at-risk youth through education and literacy for 24+ years. Over her more than 30 years of teaching, Mrs.

We’re on a mission to eradicate illiteracy and build stronger communities. Join us today—every child deserves a bright future! The Russell Education Foundation is now in our 18th year of serving low-and-moderate-income students in South Florida. The Russell Reading Program was developed by Twan Russell and his mother, Corliss Russell, a Broward County Public Schools educator who drew upon her experience in the classroom, realizing what was working for her students and where they and their families needed extra assistance. Russell determined that the key to her students’ successes in all subject areas was a mastery of reading comprehension skills.

Tournament Details:
    •    Doubles divisions for all skill levels

Ask the people who do this work every day why it matters, and they don't reach for
statistics.

They tell you about a specific kid. The one who wouldn't read out loud in
September and won't stop by March. The one who asked to take a book home for
the first time.

This is what making a difference actually looks like - up close, in a classroom, one
student at a time.

Twenty minutes. That's the whole ask.

A child who reads 20 minutes a day can encounter up to about two million words in
a year and every one of those words builds vocabulary, comprehension, and the
confidence to tackle the next book.

It's not about finishing a chapter. It's about showing up for twenty minutes.
Tonight counts.

Set a timer tonight. Twenty minutes - that's it.

It's not three separate things. A kid who reads well starts raising their hand. A kid
who raises their hand starts speaking up for others. And somewhere in there, a
