Today is day 2️⃣of Hurricane Preparedness Week and the theme of the day is "Be Prepared." The best time to prepare is BEFORE the season begins. 🌀Avoid having to rush through potentially life-saving preparations by waiting until it’s too late. Get your disaster supplies while the shelves are still stocked and get that insurance checkup early, as flood insurance typically requires a 30-day waiting period.

Congratulations to Genevie M’Causland on receiving the County Administrator’s Shining Star Award, presented by Monica Cepero, Broward County Administrator. This award recognizes Genevieve’s dedication to excellence and outstanding service, including her deployments to Ruidoso, New Mexico during the 2024 and 2025 wildfire and flash flood emergencies. 🌟

Last week, partners from across the county came together for a Local Mitigation Strategy meeting to discuss mitigation priorities, share updates, and strengthen coordination aimed at reducing risk and building long term resilience.

Congratulations to Director Clay Pacheco on being named Emergency Manager of the Year by the Fire Chiefs’ Association of Broward County. This recognition reflects his leadership and commitment to serving our community.
