Students are playing war with numbers 0-10. Pairs are differentiated if needed. Some have picture with number; some are just the numeral, some are just the pictures. One group has numbers to 20 for higher level thinking. They flip over a card from their pile at the same time. Whoever’s is greater, they keep both cards.
This activity goes with the supporting standard for exceeding on the proficiency scale K.NS.C.10 compare two or more sets of objects and identify which set is equal to, more than or less than the other and K.NS.C.11 compare two or more numerals between 1 and 10 and determine which is more than or less than the other.

👏👏👏 Congratulations to our recognized at tonight's Board meeting: Jen Nixon and Cambrie Hoglund, Reading Improvement Teachers at Elementary School 🧡🖤

First, we recognized Jen Nixon and Cambrie Hoglund, for their outstanding work supporting student growth and literacy instruction. Jen and Cambrie analyze i-Ready assessment data, coordinate targeted interventions, and help ensure students in kindergarten through fifth grade receive the support they need to grow as readers. They also collaborate with teachers to interpret data and strengthen literacy instruction across the building.
