At 14:41 hours, Pleasant Gap Fire Company was alerted to a motor vehicle crash with injuries at the 1000 block of Axemann Rd.

Engine Rescue 8, Spring Township Police Department, Traffic 8, and MICU 8-2 arrived on scene to find one vehicle into Logan Branch.

Crews remained on scene to support the vehicle removal by Eagle Towing. That included closing the roadway.

Centre County EMA was also on scene to verify that there was not any environmental impact to the creek.

Crews went available at 16:35 hours.

Today at 14:12 hours. Pleasant Gap Fire Company was alerted to hazardous conditions related to a vehicle that crashed through the fence at Suburban Propane at 539 E. College Ave.

Spring Township Police Department, Engine Rescue 8, and fire police arrived to find an SUV through the fence and resting on top of a medium sized propane cylinder. Chief 8 (Silvis) had the command.

Crews remained on scene for about 90 minutes to support Suburban Propane and Eagle Towing.

Today Pleasant Gap Fire Company placed Engine Rescue 8 into service. We wanted to thank Alpha Fire Company and the Centre Region COG for selling us the old Engine 5-3. Thanks also go to Spring Township for their assistance in making this happen.

For those of you unaware, our 2012 Pierce Engine Rescue had an incident during maintenance earlier this year that resulted in significant thermal damage to much of the electronics, hydraulics, the water tank, plus a lot of hose and tools. That rig is now back at Pierce in Wisconsin for overhaul and repairs. We expect that its repair time will be measured in months... many of them.

We are glad no one was hurt, and all of our equipment partners, insurance agencies and others are helping us through this.

The "new" Engine Rescue 8 has big shoes to fill. It is an older rig, and doesn't have nearly the compartment space. We had to make some decisions about which gear to keep. It was already set up for Amkus rescue tools. We will make adjustments with everything else as we work things through. We put the pump through its paces at work night yesterday and it flowed 1500 gpm and then some.

The Officers and Members of the Pleasant Gap Fire Company are saddened by the loss of former Fire Chief and Life Member Bob Bair. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Bair Family. Bob was a dedicated public servant who loved his Pleasant Gap Community.

At 0445 this morning, Pleasant Gap Fire Company was alerted to a non-injury accident near the yellow barn on Axmann Rd. A vehicle had crashed into the farm's on-site fuel pump.

Engine 8 and Traffic 8 responded. Chief 8 had the command.

Crews remained on scene for about an hour to support PSP and the tow company.

Engine 8 and Traffic 8 responded to Mack Avenue earlier this evening for smoke in the basement. The cause was identified as a furnace malfunction and smoke was ventilated from the residence
