Teamwork in action. 🚔🤝🚒

When a disabled vehicle creates a traffic hazard, our officers are ready to assist. In this case, officers helped push the vehicle safely to the side of the road, getting it out of traffic and creating a safer environment for everyone.

Our teammates at Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department also responded to assist and extinguish a fire that ignited.

A reminder for drivers: If your vehicle becomes disabled, move to a safe location, if possible, turn on your hazard lights, and call for assistance.

It takes a team to keep our community safe. 💙

Today, we remember Kyle Henricksen on the seventh anniversary of his end of watch, October 15, 2019.

Seven years ago, we lost Kyle to pancreatic cancer, but his legacy lives on within our department and in the hearts of those who knew him. Kyle was more than a great officer. He was a true friend, a devoted father and husband, and a unique and wonderful soul who made those around him better simply for knowing him.

We remember the friendship he shared, the lives he touched, and the lasting place he holds in our Pleasanton Police Department family. Our hearts remain with his family and all who love and miss him.

We miss you, Kyle. We are better because we knew you, and we will always carry your memory with us as we strive to serve with the same spirit you embodied.

Pleasanton Police Awarded $46,140 Grant for Speeding and Reckless Driving Program to Increase Road Safety 🚔

Pleasanton Police announced today that it has received a $46,140 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to support ongoing enforcement and education programs aimed at reducing serious injuries and deaths on local roads.

The grant will provide additional programs and resources, including:

✅ High-visibility distracted driving enforcement operations targeting violations of California’s hands-free cell phone law

✅ Enforcement operations focused on the most dangerous driver behaviors that endanger people biking or walking

✅ Enforcement operations targeting top crash-causing violations, including speeding, failure to yield, running stop signs or red lights, and improper turning or lane changes

✅ Community presentations on traffic safety topics such as distracted driving, impaired driving, speeding, and bicycle and pedestrian safety

✅ Collaborative enforcement efforts with neighboring agencies

“Traffic safety begins with everyday decisions,” said OTS Director Stephanie Dougherty. “When we address the risky driving behaviors that put everyone on the road in danger, including speeding, distraction, and impairment, we can prevent crashes and save lives. By supporting enforcement efforts and educating communities, we’re helping to build a safety culture where looking out for others and safe travel behaviors are the norm.”

The grant program runs through September 2027.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Last weekend, Officer Zankich successfully completed the Pleasanton Police Department’s Field Training Program, a significant milestone as he begins serving the Pleasanton community independently.

Over the past several months, Officer Zankich worked closely with our Field Training Officers to build the practical skills, sound judgment, and decision-making needed for the demands of patrol. From navigating dynamic calls for service to building positive community relationships, field training is where classroom instruction becomes real-world service.

Officer Zankich joined PPD as a self-sponsored recruit, inspired by a long-standing desire to serve the community. He has quickly demonstrated a strong alignment with the Department’s culture and values, bringing a commitment to family, community connection, and continual personal and professional growth.

We are proud to welcome Officer Zankich to the next chapter of his career with the Pleasanton Police Department.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Zankich and wishing him a safe and successful career serving our community. 🚔
