Last week, we had the opportunity to use our skills and train together at the Koontz Lake Fire Department training grounds.

These storage containers are a mock set up for interior structure firefighting training with furniture and obstacles inside. We lit dry straw in a burn can to create the smoke effect.

The goal of this training is to practice teamwork and communication, navigating through hard to see conditions and obstacles, dragging hose, and search and rescue techniques. Everyone did a great job!

Thank you Koontz Lake Fire Department for allowing us to use your training facility!

The week of October 4-10 was National Fire Prevention Week!

Walkerton Elementary School was kind to host Polk Fire to educate the kiddos about fire safety!

The kids enjoyed seeing the trucks and equipment, spraying the fire hose, and asking LOTS of questions! 🙂

Does your family have a safe plan at home incase of fire emergency?

Congratulation’s to Polk Fire Volunteers - Clark, Eli and Ken for successfully obtaining their Firefighter 1 and 2 certification and HAZMAT Awareness and Operations certifications!

These men attended these classes primarily at Bremen Fire and other departments in Marshall County throughout December to July twice a week. These classes involve classroom learning and hands on field training.

Huge shoutout to all those involved in putting on the Firefighter class/trainings and making sure new firefighters are well trained and certified!

And congratulations to neighboring firefighters at other departments who have obtained these certifications also!

Thank you for your hard work and dedication! 🔥
