The Pocahontas-Old Ripley Volunteer Firemen’s Picnic is coming to American Legion Park on July 10-11, 2026, and there’s something for everyone!

🎰 Bingo
💵 Gun Raffle / Cash Prize Drawing

Looking for some friendly competition? Grab a partner and sign up for the Co****le Tournament on Saturday, July 11! Registration begins at 11:00 AM with bags flying at 12:00 PM. Double elimination, Bond County League rules, and plenty of fun for players of all skill levels.

Most importantly, come out and support the dedicated volunteers who help protect our community year-round. We hope to see friends, neighbors, and families from all over the area for a great weekend of food, fun, and community spirit!

Thank you to everyone that made it to the Easter Egg Hunt today.
We also wanted to apologize to one of our generous sponsors that we forgot to mention. THANK YOU Pocahontas BP for your generosity donation of the golden prizes for the age groups 0-3 and 4-6. We appreciate your continuous support and are greatly appreciative.

Santa is coming to town… on a FIRE TRUCK! 🎅

Get ready, everyone! Santa will be making his rounds this Saturday, December 13th starting at noon.

🚒 He’ll begin in Pocahontas and then make his way over to Old Ripley.

Keep your eyes (and ears!) open — you won’t want to miss him! 👀🎄

Additional awards and promotions were presented during the annual Firemen’s Appreciation Dinner.

Randi Smith was promoted to Lieutenant. Her strong background in the fire service and her dedication to teaching and mentoring others will continue to strengthen our team.

District Chief Andrew Wilfong was recognized with a 15 Years of Service plaque. In reality, Chief Wilfong has proudly served a total of 17 years, demonstrating his ongoing commitment and leadership within the department.

We congratulate both Randi and Chief Wilfong on these well-deserved accomplishments and thank them for their continued service to our community.

During last night’s Firemen’s Appreciation Dinner, awards were presented to recognize outstanding service and dedication.

Lieutenant Aaron Milhoan was named Firefighter of the Year for his continued commitment to lending a hand and assisting others throughout the year.

Auxiliary Member Mel Griffith was recognized as Auxiliary Member of the Year for his consistent willingness to help and support department activities.

The department extends its sincere appreciation to both recipients for their exceptional contributions and continued service to our community.

We can’t thank our volunteers enough for the time they give and the moments they sacrifice away from their families to serve our community. Our volunteers are truly the heart of the fire department, and this dinner is just a small way to say thank you for all that they do.
