We currently have a crew deployed to the Salmon area, working alongside the U.S. Forest Service and BLM engine crews. While up here, the crews role is pre-positioning for initial attack around the region and participating in essential project cutting work.

The crew recently responded as part of the initial attack on the Bills Fire, working hard to get the incident contained alongside our partner agencies.

Stay safe out there, and thank you to all the personnel on the front lines! 🔥🌲

We have included a video in the comments as well.

We have had a crew deployed to northern Idaho the past two weeks assisting with wildfire suppression efforts in the Sandpoint area!

The crew worked as part of an Initial Attack Strike Team, working hand-in-hand with Chubbuck Fire Department, Bonneville County, and Ketchum Fire Department.

Standing together to protect Idaho communities.

Check out the photos below for a glimpse of our crew in action on the ground during the Sandpoint deployment. This crew has returned home but we sent another crew to replace them and they will continue the work.

The National Interagency Coordination Center (NICC) / Predictive Services just released the National Significant Wildland Fire Potential Outlook for August 2026 and as you can see on the map, southern Idaho is glowing bright red!

This indicates a higher-than-average risk for significant wildland fires across our region the next two months. Dry conditions, high summer temperatures, and seasonal winds mean that a single spark can spread rapidly.

We need everyone’s help to keep our community safe. Please be mindful and do your part to prevent wildfires:

🔥 Avoid Outdoor Burning: Check local fire bans before starting campfires, and ensure all recreational fires are fully extinguished (cold to the touch!) before walking away.

⛓️ Secure Trailer Chains: Towing a trailer? Make sure your safety chains aren't dragging on the asphalt. Friction sparks are a leading cause of roadside grass fires!

🚜 Watch Parking: Avoid driving or parking vehicles on dry grass, and hold off on mowing dry brush during the heat of the day.

🚬 Dispose Ci******es Safely: Never toss lit ci******es or matches out of vehicle windows or into dry vegetation.

🏡 Prepare Your Property: Clear dry brush, leaves, and flammable materials within 30 feet of your home to create defensible space.

Let’s work together to protect Pocatello and our surrounding public lands this fire season! If you see active smoke or fire, call 911 immediately.
