The Rensselaer County Democratic Committee held its fall campaign kick off event this morning at the Brunswick Elks. Congressman Paul Tonko energized a packed room with reminding us to carry on the principles established in Philadelphia 250 years ago when our leaders broke away from rule under a sovereign. Democracy cannot be taken for granted!

43rd State Senate District candidate Devin Lander address federal spending cuts and potential negative impacts to property owners.

I'm standing up for NY homeowners against shifting costs and rising property taxes. 🏠📉

Federal cuts to SNAP benefits are threatening to push nearly $168M in administrative costs onto New York counties, putting immense pressure on local budgets. I strongly oppose filling this gap by raising property taxes on working families in SD-43.

"New York homeowners are already being squeezed by some of the highest property taxes in the country... I will work with state and local leaders to protect SNAP and other essential services while fighting to ensure these heightened costs caused by federal cuts are not simply passed along to local property taxpayers."

Congressman Riley addresses giant data centers and the burden on our electric bills.

The proposed bill is designed to shield New York ratepayers from bearing the costs of power generation, transmission, and distribution upgrades required to support massive, energy-intensive data centers.

Thanks to everyone who attended our Blue Sundae Ice Cream Social yesterday. After an uncertain morning, the weather was perfect for making a sundae, having coffee, or chatting with neighbors. Special thanks to Local Youth for entertaining us with wonderful music. Next year will be certain to add watermelon to the menu in honor of them playing Mongo Santamaria’s version of Watermelon Man.

And a huge thank you to Pine Ridge Cross Country Ski Area for hosting us.
