The Point Pleasant Borough Office of Emergency Management's (OEM) mission is to reduce loss of life and property in order to protect the environment from all-hazards (man-made and natural) and acts of terrorism, that occur within, or may affect, the Borough of Point Pleasant. This is accomplished through collaboration to build, sustain, and improve our capabilities to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate hazards, by providing and coordinating resources, expertise, leadership, and advocacy through a comprehensive, all-hazards, risk-based emergency preparedness program. When OEM becomes involved in an incident, it is because the scope and scale of the incident necessitates assistance beyond local resources. During these events, officials from the Borough and County (and possibly State and Federal) are also involved along with nongovernmental organizations (NG0s), elements of the private sector. This mission is achieved through coordination and cooperation of various Borough Departments, Volunteer Units, regional partners, and other organizations that would have a role in any major emergency, ensuring that the efforts of all players are coordinated and synchronized to achieve the best results is the job of incident management.

❤️ A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR DEDICATED CERT VOLUNTEERS!❤️

Our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers continue to make an incredible difference in our community through their dedication, preparedness, and willingness to serve when needed most.

In 2025 alone, our CERT volunteers contributed an amazing 10,524 hours of community service! That’s 10,524 hours of giving back, supporting our neighbors, preparing for emergencies, and helping keep our community safe.

Tonight, our team gathered for their monthly meeting to review emergency response incidents, discuss lessons learned, and evaluate the equipment and resources needed when deploying to emergencies, supporting shelters, and assisting at community events.

Their commitment goes far beyond attending meetings or responding to calls. It’s about being prepared, working together, and standing ready to help our community during times of need.

To each and every CERT volunteer: Thank you for your countless hours of service, your dedication, and your unwavering commitment to our community. Your time, skills, and willingness to step up truly matter, and we are grateful for all that you do!

🚨 10,524 hours. Countless acts of kindness. One incredible team.

Thank you for being the difference in our community!

CERT Mutual Aid & Community Partnership✓

Last night, Point Pleasant CERT had the opportunity to assist Toms River CERT with their Town Fall Fest, and it was another great example of what can happen when Ocean County CERT teams work together.

Over the past year, CERT teams throughout Ocean County have increasingly embraced a mutual-aid approach—working together much like our police, fire, and EMS departments do. By sharing resources, experience, and personnel, our teams are building stronger relationships and becoming better prepared to support our communities when they need us.

As Ocean County’s local CERT teams continue to grow, we’ll see even more opportunities for teams to come together—not only to support community events, but also to assist one another during emergencies and larger incidents.

This cooperation strengthens the CERT program, strengthens the partnerships between our communities, and most importantly, strengthens our ability to serve the residents who count on us.

A big thank you to Toms River CERT for having us, and to all the CERT members who continue to volunteer their time and work together to make our communities safer and stronger.

One team, many communities, working together.

Saturday Morning Update: Here is the latest on the Nor'easter affecting our region. For the full briefing, visithttps://www.weather.gov/media/phi/current_briefing.pdf

Winds: We've already seen some strong winds overnight ( https://www.weather.gov/wrh/TextProduct?product=pnsphi&id=7579336e-39f6-4e33-93ef-8a89e0929b82 ). These windy conditions will continue through today and tonight. These strong of winds may make driving difficult, particularly in high profile vehicles.

Tides: We are entering high tide now on the oceanfront, so expect to see significant tidal impacts over the next few hours. Once we get through this high tide, we still expect to see coastal/tidal flooding impacts for the next 2 - 4 high tide cycles (depending on the location). For the latest details on tidal/coastal flooding, please visit https://www.weather.gov/erh/coastalflood?wfo=phi

Rain: Bands of light to moderate rain will continue through the weekend. It still looks like the risk for flash flooding is low, but slow rises on area waterways are expected. Currently, the only non-tidal river forecast to go into flood is the Millstone river in New Jersey. For the latest river forecasts, visit https://water.noaa.gov/wfo/phi Rain could also exacerbate coastal/tidal flooding impacts.
