ARREST MADE IN THEFT OF POLITICAL SIGNS

The Point Pleasant Borough Police Department announces the arrest of an individual following an investigation into the theft of numerous political signs from properties within the Borough.

On September 8, 2026, the Police Department received reports that numerous political signs had been removed from properties in Point Pleasant Borough without authorization. An investigation was subsequently conducted by members of the Department.

As a result of that investigation, Gregory Hall, 67, of Manasquan, New Jersey, was arrested at Point Pleasant Borough Police Headquarters on September 25, 2026. Hall was charged with two counts of theft and was released on a complaint-summons pending a future court appearance.

As with all criminal matters, the charges are accusations only, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

As we enter the election season, the Point Pleasant Borough Police Department reminds residents and visitors that political disagreements should never result in criminal activity or inappropriate conduct. Everyone is free to support the candidates and causes of their choosing and to lawfully express those views.

Taking, damaging, destroying, or otherwise interfering with another person's property is not an acceptable form of political expression. Such conduct may constitute a criminal offense and will be investigated accordingly.

The Point Pleasant Borough Police Department encourages everyone to respect the property and viewpoints of others and to express political opinions in a lawful and respectful manner.

🚲 Bike Safety Fun at Nellie Bennett Elementary! 🚲

The Point Pleasant Police Traffic Safety/Community Policing Unit teamed up with the Greater Mercer TMA for our annual Bike Rodeo at Nellie Bennett Elementary School, where we had the opportunity to work with the school’s 3rd-grade students!

The students kicked off the event by having their helmets inspected to make sure they were properly fitted and providing the protection they need. They then learned about important traffic signs, bicycle safety, and how to ride safely and responsibly.

After the instruction, it was time to put those skills into action! 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️ The students rode through a safety course where they practiced the skills they had just learned while navigating different situations they may encounter while riding.

A special thank you to Principal Hulse for welcoming us to his school and allowing us the opportunity to teach his students about bicycle safety.

We’d also like to thank Point Bikes for donating their time to inspect the students’ bicycles and help make sure they were safe to ride. And a huge thank you to Brielle Bikes for allowing us to borrow bikes so that students who didn’t bring their own bikes could still participate in the Bike Rodeo!

We had a great time teaching these young riders important skills that will help keep them safe on the road. Great job, 3rd graders! 👏🚲

🚍 SCHOOL BUS SAFETY REMINDER 🚍

A reminder to all motorists: New Jersey State Law requires drivers to stop NO LESS THAN 25 feet from a school bus when its flashing red lights are activated.

Drivers must remain stopped while the bus is taking on or letting off children or persons with developmental disabilities, and may proceed only after the bus’s flashing red lights are no longer displayed.

⚠️ Violations can result in fines and FIVE POINTS on your driver’s license.

Distracted driving makes an already dangerous situation even more hazardous. A quick glance at your phone can last just 2–5 seconds.

📱 At 25 mph, looking at your phone for just a few seconds can mean traveling up to 183 feet without seeing the road—approximately the length of five standard school buses.

Put the phone down. Slow down. Stop for the bus. Protect our children. 🛑

One moment of distraction can have lifelong consequences.

Day 6 may have been rainy, but it certainly didn't dampen the campers' spirits!

The day began with an important lesson on accountability and integrity, followed by physical training and drill.

The Ocean County Sheriff's Office Drone Unit visited camp and introduced campers to three of the drones they use to support law enforcement agencies throughout Ocean County. Campers had the opportunity to wear FPV goggles to experience the drone's camera view firsthand while learning how drones play a vital role in search operations, investigations, and other public safety missions.

For lunch, everyone enjoyed a delicious meal generously donated by Bubbakoo's Burritos of Point Pleasant.

The afternoon featured exciting demonstrations by the Ocean County SWAT Team. Campers toured the BearCat vehicle, had the chance to sit inside, and learned about the specialized equipment SWAT officers use by seeing, and even trying on some of the gear. To wrap up the demonstration, the team safely conducted a flashbang demonstration that gave campers an unforgettable experience.

A huge thank you to the Ocean County Sheriff's Office Drone Unit, the Ocean County SWAT Team, our officers, Police Explorers, Bubbakoo's Burritos of Point Pleasant, and all of our dedicated volunteers for making Day 6 such a memorable success despite the rainy weather. We appreciate your continued support and commitment to our campers!
