⚠️ FLASH FLOODING ADVISORY ⚠️
Village of Pomeroy
September 21, 2026 – Effective 1:15 A.M.

Citizens and visitors are advised that numerous streets throughout the Village of Pomeroy are currently underwater due to heavy rainfall and flash flooding from today's storms.

Please use extreme caution if you must travel. Water may be deeper than it appears, road surfaces may be damaged, and debris may be present on roadways.

In addition, several roadways have large amounts of gravel and stone on them after heavy runoff washed gravel from driveways into the streets. These areas can create hazardous driving conditions, especially for motorcycles and smaller vehicles. Please reduce your speed and remain alert for changing road conditions.

Village crews are currently working throughout the community to assess conditions and place warning signs and barricades in affected areas. Please be patient as crews work to identify hazards and make roadways as safe as possible.

Parents and students are encouraged to monitor their school district's communications for any potential school delays or closures that may be announced due to road and weather conditions.

🚧 TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN 🚧

❌ Do not drive through water-covered roadways.
❌ Do not drive around barricades or through closed roadways.
❌ Do not attempt to cross flooded areas.
❌ Do not move barricades or warning signs.

Please slow down, watch for emergency personnel and Street Department crews working throughout the village, and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as information becomes available.

Stay safe, Pomeroy.

09/12/2026

The Village of Pomeroy is currently experiencing flash flooding in multiple areas. Several roads are covered with water, and debris has been reported on roadways throughout the village.

In addition, numerous driveways have washed out, leaving gravel and other debris in the roadway. We are also receiving reports of sinkholes developing on some roadways due to the excessive rainfall and flooding conditions.

At this time, we are unable to determine whether any road surfaces have been damaged or washed away beneath the floodwaters. Hidden hazards may exist, including washed-out pavement, sinkholes, debris, and other roadway damage that cannot be seen under the water.

Please use extreme caution if you must travel. Do not drive through flooded waters or flooded roadways.

Turn Around, Don't Drown. If you encounter a flooded roadway, find an alternate route and avoid the area whenever possible. No destination is worth risking your safety.

The Pomeroy Street Department and first responders are actively working throughout the village to address flooding, roadway hazards, and other storm-related issues. Please use caution around emergency vehicles and work crews, and do not hinder personnel who are working to keep our community safe.

Village crews will continue to monitor conditions and address affected areas as soon as it is safe to do so. We appreciate everyone's cooperation during this weather event.

Please slow down, stay alert, and stay safe.
