Today, the Meigs County Victim Assistance Program and Meigs County Prosecutor’s Office joined together in recognition of Purple Thursday in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Wearing purple is more than just a color. It is a way to stand in solidarity with survivors of domestic violence, honor those whose lives have been lost, and remind those experiencing abuse that they are not alone. 💜

Domestic violence impacts individuals and families in every community. By raising awareness, breaking the silence, and showing our support, we can help create a community where survivors feel safe, supported, and empowered to seek help.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who wore purple, even those who couldn’t join us! Every show of solidarity helps remind survivors that they are seen, they are heard, and they deserve safety, dignity, and respect. 💜 Together, we can raise awareness, and support survivors.

💜 PURPLE THURSDAY IS TOMORROW! 💜

Wear purple in support of survivors of domestic violence and to help raise awareness for Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October!

Why purple? Purple is the nationally recognized color of domestic violence awareness. Wearing purple is a visible way to stand with survivors, honor those who have lost their lives to domestic violence, and show our community that abuse should never be ignored or accepted. It serves as a reminder that survivors are not alone and that support, compassion, and access to resources can make a difference.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month is a time to raise awareness, recognize the impact of domestic violence on individuals and families, and remind our community that healthy relationships are built on respect, safety, and equality. Domestic violence can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or circumstances. By speaking up, educating ourselves, and supporting survivors, we can help break the silence and work toward a safer community for everyone.

💜 Help us turn Meigs County purple! 💜

Feel free to post a picture of yourself wearing purple using to show your support for survivors and help spread awareness!

Join the Meigs County Victim Assistance Program for our Purple Thursday group picture tomorrow, Thursday, October 15, at 3:00 p.m. on the courthouse steps!

Every voice matters. Every act of support matters. Together, we can stand with survivors, raise awareness, and remind those experiencing abuse that they are not alone, and help is available.

This month, we stand together to raise awareness, support families, and protect the most vulnerable in our community.

This decision to close was made out of caution to ensure the safety of county employees and the public.
