Apply Now: 2027 National 4-H Conference Delegate Opportunity!

Applications are now open for Ohio 4-H members (ages 15–18 as of January 1, 2027) to represent our state at the 2027 National 4-H Conference in Washington, D.C., held April 8–14. This prestigious event focuses on civic engagement, civic education, and personal development, bringing together youth from across the country to connect, learn, and lead. Interested members must complete the online application by December 1.

Emerald Clover Award Applications Due December 1 Ohio 4-H members are encouraged to apply for the Emerald Clover Award, the highest level of recognition in the Ohio 4-H Clover Awards Program. This award honors well-rounded 4-H members who have demonstrated growth, achievement, and leadership throughout their 4-H career.

Applicants must be at least 16 years old as of January 1, 2026, and submit a completed application, 4-H résumé, one-page cover letter, and video highlighting their 4-H experiences and impact.

Emerald Clover Award recipients will be recognized on stage at the Ohio 4-H Conference on March 13, 2027.

Interested in starting a new 4-H club in 2027 or volunteering with an existing club? Applying to be a Meigs County 4-H Volunteer is the first step! Visit go.osu.edu/meigsnewvol to apply to become a new volunteer. Existing or new volunteers should also email Mackenzie to let her know that you are interested in starting a new club.

Applications must be submitted by midnight on December 1. Additional details about the volunteer screening, selection, and training process can be obtained by emailing Mackenzie at [email protected] or calling 740-992-6696.

Thanks to Mrs. Harbour from Eastern Local, along with Mrs. Snowden from Meigs Primary, Mrs. Wolfe from Meigs Intermediate, and Mrs. Hupp from Southern Local, who completed the Embryology project with their classrooms and Michelle Stumbo from Meigs County Ohio State University Extension last week!

They hatched quail in their classrooms over the last 3 weeks. They learned about life cycles, environments needed by different living things, how agriculture is involved in their everyday lives, how to care for living things, and more.

We are happy to report that the teachers and Michelle's back-up incubator all had successful hatches and rates were over 70% for the project. Thanks to Dani Stumbo of Cedar Creations for donating the eggs for the project. The chicks have gone back with her farm.

The classrooms may be a little quieter without the calls of their little coveys, but we hope the students remember the excitement of seeing new life in their classrooms!

We have also been asked for some pictures of the quail, so we will share some in the comments.
