A blast from a past Thanksgiving, with brother Rick and cousins Todd and Tina. In this season of Thanksgiving, I am very thankful to live in Garfield County where family and traditions matter. š„§

EWU STEM scholar Brandon Bartels, my eldest, is a product of the excellent education available here in Pomeroy. He mailed in his ballot in the midst of midterms. Hope you did too!

Laura Smith, Former Garfield County Assessor Endorses Bartels
As former assessor of Garfield County (2012 through 2016), and chief deputy assessor for seven years prior, I would like to give my opinion of the current election in Garfield County for the assessor's position.
Working in an office as complicated as the assessor's office takes more that just knowledge of each aspect of the office. It takes maturity, ethics and honesty, to name a few. I believe that Brian Bartels has those qualities.
I had the pleasure of knowing Bartels and found him to be someone who is very concerned and cares deeply for the future of Garfield County. Bartels is a family man with strong roots in the community - coaching Boys & Girls Club basketball, little league softball, Pomeroy seventh-grade basketball, Babe Ruth baseball and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
During our training, I found him to be committed to the people of Garfield County. He is someone with the maturity it takes to listen and work hand-in-hand to resolve issues.
I fully endorse Brian Bartels to continue his superior service to the people of Garfield County as assessor, and feel he is a strong asset to the community of Garfield County.
Please go out, vote and make your voice heard.
