What does PCDA’s Business Retention and Expansion work look like in action? Take a look!

Beyond bringing new businesses to town, Economic Development means helping the companies already here invest, expand, and create opportunities that strengthen Ponca City and the surrounding region.

In 2025–2026, PCDA’s Business Retention and Expansion efforts helped support 58 new jobs and $40 million in capital investment from Ponca City manufacturers, including new buildings, equipment, and expansion projects.

PCDA invested $274,000 through business retention and expansion programs, shared equipment, and job incentives. That support also helped leverage an additional $580,365 in public funding through Oklahoma’s Innovation Expansion Program.

Those numbers represent growth, work, and more investment staying right here in our community.

That’s what Business Retention and Expansion is all about: helping the businesses already invested in Ponca City have the support and room to keep growing.

Our own Lori Henderson joined Dane Carlson on the Econ Dev Show to share how Ponca City is growing from the ground up!

In a rural manufacturing community, jobs, housing, childcare, and quality of life all go hand in hand. Lori talks about how we’ve been tackling all of it together:

Moving from just a handful of new homes a year to 59 incentivized housing units in two years. Bringing older homes back to life through rehab incentives. Helping revive our movie theater as part of making Ponca City a great place to live and work. Supporting local entrepreneurs with flexible workspace and small business services. Building tomorrow’s workforce through the Wildcat Internship Program, with about 100 local companies and 180 students taking part

None of this happens without the partnership of the City of Ponca City, our local employers, our schools, and a community that believes in what’s possible here.

As the owner of Bowers-SPI, LLC, Garrett brings experience in transportation, logistics, business development, entrepreneurship, and strategic partnerships to the PCDA Board.

His favorite thing about Ponca City is that it is big enough to create opportunity, but small enough that relationships still matter.

PCDA believes supporting local industry means putting your boots on the concrete and getting involved.

Through Business Retention & Expansion, our very own Laurence Beliel works directly with Ponca City manufacturers to take notice of challenges, improve processes, and find practical ways to help companies grow.

That support can include product and process analysis, setup reduction, CAD and prototyping, automation and robotics implementation, state funding opportunities, and much more.

PCDA's goal is simple: give Ponca City manufacturers access to the knowledge, tools, and connections they need to keep moving forward.

Today is Manufacturing Day in Ponca City and nationwide. We're celebrating the people who make things happen in our community, literally. Our local manufacturers create jobs, support families, and put Ponca City products into the hands of people all over the world. We're so grateful you choose to do business here.

Monday evening at the City Commission Meeting, Mayor Kelsey Wagner read an official proclamation recognizing October 2 as Manufacturing Day and October as Manufacturing Month in Ponca City, honoring the vital role our manufacturers play in keeping our economy strong and our community thriving.

And we're not stopping at one day! Throughout October, PCDA will be bringing lunch to manufacturers across Ponca City as an extra thank you to the hardworking teams who keep our lines running. Keep an eye out, we might be headed your way soon.

Thank you for the jobs you create. Thank you for investing in Ponca City. Thank you for building our future, one shift at a time.

Oklahoma feeds the country, and Ponca City is positioned to help turn that agricultural strength into real economic opportunity.

PCDA sees a clear advantage for companies connected to food processing, ag-related manufacturing, and value-added agricultural products, and we want to help!

Our role is to assist companies in understanding why and how Ponca City works: central access to Midwest agriculture, strong industrial infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and a community built to support companies that make, process, package, and ship products across the country.

Last week, we gathered at the Ponca City Country Club to welcome six individuals new to our area (seven if you count the adorable baby). They had the chance to meet local community leaders, learn more about Ponca City, and start building connections.

Welcome Wagon came out of the Ponca City Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Ponca City class wrap-up, led by Lori and Kat from PCDA. The idea was simple: moving to a new town is hard, and nobody should have to figure it out alone. We want every newcomer to feel connected, supported, and at home here.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to say hello and make our newest residents feel welcome!

Help Ponca City students take their first step into a career. Working alongside the Internship Coordinator at Ponca City High School, you'll track attendance at internship sites, keep student records and placements up to date, and manage the paperwork and communication that connect students with local host businesses. You'll also help write internship descriptions, build orientation materials, and support program events.
