Wearing Pink for a Purpose!

Members of the Livingston County Health Department team came together to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

October is a reminder of the importance of breast cancer awareness, early detection, and supporting those who have been affected by this disease.

Today, we wear pink to honor survivors, remember those we've lost, and stand alongside everyone currently facing breast cancer.

Together, we can help spread awareness, encourage conversations, and remind our community that early detection saves lives!

Good morning, Livingston County!

Did you happen to catch the beautiful sunrise over our freshly harvested fields this morning? What a great way to start the day!

As we enjoy the beauty of fall in Livingston County, we're also thinking about the hardworking farmers who have been putting in long hours this harvest season.

And speaking of our farmers… when was the last time you had a tetanus shot?

Working around farm equipment, soil, and sharp objects can increase the risk of injuries that may expose you to tetanus. Most adults need a tetanus booster every 10 years.

Not sure if you're up to date? We're here to help!

Call the Livingston County Health Department at 815-844-7174 to schedule your vaccination appointment and make sure you're protected.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and enjoy that beautiful fall sunrise, Livingston County!

October 19–23 is National Health Education Week!

At the Livingston County Health Department, we believe health education is about more than sharing information. It’s about answering questions, connecting people with resources, preventing illness, and helping our neighbors make informed decisions about their health.

From school and community presentations to health screenings, prevention programs, and outreach, our team is committed to building a healthier Livingston County, one conversation at a time.

Because healthier communities start with informed communities!

This week, Livingston County Health Department leadership attended the Illinois Weather and Public Health Response Summit, gaining valuable insights from experts and firsthand experiences of communities impacted by severe weather.

We also had the opportunity to meet renowned storm chaser Timmer Extreme Meteorologist , who was right here in Pontiac during the March tornado outbreak!

A resilient community is a prepared community. By learning from past events and strengthening our emergency response and communication efforts, we're working to ensure Livingston County is better prepared to respond, recover, and support one another when severe weather strikes.
