The Long Lake Fire Department participated in a ventilation training taught by Illinois State Fire Institute.

Topics taught tonight were several types of ventilation and taught how to safely cut an opening in a roof when necessary to ventilate a structure.

Roof ventilation is important part of the fire service because it helps release heat, smoke and toxic gases from the structure burning. This improves visibility to assist crews in finding the fire to extinguish it and assist them in finding occupants of the structure!

Tonight members from Long Lake Fire Department participated in a auto extrication class at Madison Fire Department.

During the training members received hands on training with stabilization and vehicle rescue techniques with many different scenarios. This training helps our members know how to cut a car efficiently to access trapped patients.
