We are so grateful to have been able to speak at FCC Behavioral Health in Kennett yesterday to share the mission of Haven House for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

We would really appreciate your help. It’s only $1 per vote and this is through Oct 31!

We would really appreciate your help. It’s only $1 per vote and this is through Oct 31!

If we all chipped in just $1 a month, we could change the world…one life, one family, and one cause at a time.
This month on PIFster, we are lifting up four incredible local heroes who are out there every single day doing the hard work to care for those in need:
🐾 Austin Texas Sugar Glider Rescue– Dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and caring for delicate sugar gliders.
🩷 Claudia’s Medical Trip – Helping cover life-saving breast cancer medical care for Claudia.
🏡Haven House, Inc. Missouri – Providing shelter, meals, and trauma counseling for women and children escaping domestic violence.
🏈 Waterset Oilers Youth Sport Inc. – Guiding young people through mentorship, teamwork, and athletic opportunities.
Small, consistent giving adds up to real, tangible support. Please share this post wide so more people can see these amazing causes and vote on where our community grant goes this month!

Haven House was afforded an opportunity on October 2 to collaborate with OFRPC through their first annual Community Day of Connections. We provided education, resources, safety planning and volunteer opportunities to those who came out to visit.

1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men experience domestic violence in their lifetime.

This isn't a private issue — it's a public crisis.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 💜 And this year, the need to speak up feels especially urgent.

Cases like the allegations involving the Cornell Seven remind us why survivor support and accountability matter.

Yet federal funding for the organizations helping survivors continues to shrink. Beginning October 1, Haven House lost more than $60,000 from this funding source, forcing us to scale back services our community depends on.

Behind every funding cut is someone who needs safe shelter, an advocate, or help finding a way forward.

Please turn awareness into action. Donate to Haven House, shop at The Vault on Vine, and urge our elected officials to protect funding for survivor services.

Just a reminder: Every donation of $100 or more is eligible for a 70% state tax credit!

Survivors deserve more than awareness. They deserve safety, support, and a chance to heal. 💜

Hey, so r**e is actually always 100% the rapist’s fault.
There is no level of shared responsibility.
And that’s a fact.

Hope that helps ✌🏼

Today is the first day of Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM)! This month is a reminder that intimate partner violence is serious and affects every person in the household. We cannot minimize the violence experienced by so many.

Unfortunately, domestic violence is common. Almost one in two women, and more than four in ten men have experienced some form of violence (sexual assault, physical assault, or stalking) by an intimate partner. Abuse may look different in every relationship. The common denominator in all abusive relationships is that the abuser is seeking power and control over their victim.

This DVAM, we encourage you to learn more about domestic violence and the resources available to survivors in your region. Learning about domestic violence and spreading awareness are all great ways to support your friends, family members, and community.

We thank the first responders who arrive first on the scene of each domestic violence call and know them to be serious, dangerous, and potentially life-threatening for all involved; we thank victim advocates who are there 24 hours a day to provide crisis support, shelter, and more when needed; and we honor the survivors who continue to fight for their freedom.

You can learn more about domestic violence resources, donate to MOCADSV to continue the mission, and find service providers near you by visiting www.mocadsv.org/

Beginning October 1, Haven House will lose more than $60,000 in funding from this very source. Sadly, these cuts leave us no choice but to scale back services until funding increases. Behind every cut are survivors and children who depend on us for safety, support, and hope.

Local organizations that serve as lifelines for crime victims and domestic abuse survivors across southeast Missouri are bracing for significant budget cuts as a critical federal funding pool continues to dry up.
