October is Health Literacy Month!
Health information can sometimes feel confusing or overwhelming. Health literacy means having the skills and confidence to find, understand, and use health information to make informed decisions for yourself and your family.
This month, take a moment to:
✅ Ask questions when you’re unsure
✅ Make sure you understand your medications and health instructions
✅ Use trusted sources for health information
✅ Talk with your healthcare provider when you have concerns
Don’t be afraid to ask questions—understanding your health is an important part of taking care of yourself!

October is Fire Safety Month! 🔥
Fire safety starts with being prepared. Take a few minutes this month to check your smoke alarms, make an escape plan, practice with your family, and make sure everyone knows what to do if a fire occurs.

Did you know that something as simple as washing your hands can help prevent the spread of germs and keep you and those around you healthier? Global Handwashing Day is a great reminder that clean hands are one of the easiest ways we can protect ourselves, our families, and our communities.
Remember the basics:
✔️ Wet your hands with clean, running water
✔️ Apply soap and lather well
✔️ Scrub for at least 20 seconds—don’t forget the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails!
✔️ Rinse well
✔️ Dry with a clean towel or air dryer
Make handwashing a habit, especially before eating or preparing food, after using the restroom, after coughing or sneezing, and whenever your hands are visibly dirty.
A few seconds of good handwashing can go a long way toward keeping our community healthy!

Wellness Wednesday!
Wellness isn't always about making big changes. Sometimes, it's about noticing the little things that make a day feel a little brighter.

Today, take a moment to write down 3 tiny things that brought you joy—maybe your favorite song came on, you had a good cup of tea, your child made you laugh, you got some sunshine, or you simply had a quiet moment to yourself.

Small moments matter. And sometimes, the little things are what get us through the big things.

Are you or someone you love experiencing early signs of memory loss or dementia? You don't have to navigate this journey alone.

Join us for Memory Café on Monday, October 26, at 10:00 AM at the Ridgel Branch. This welcoming, relaxed gathering is an opportunity to connect with others in our community who share similar experiences, enjoy conversation, and build meaningful friendships.

Caregivers are encouraged to attend, and refreshments will be provided. Everyone is welcome! 💚

📍 Ridgel Branch | 3398 Kanell Blvd.
