For more than a century, Extension has worked alongside farmers and agricultural producers to share research-based information, address challenges, improve production practices, and strengthen agricultural communities. That partnership continues to be an essential part of our mission.

Here in Pearl River County, we're proud to support the hardworking individuals who dedicate their lives to agriculture. Their knowledge, innovation, and commitment to help sustain our communities and shape the future of the agricultural industry.

Happy National Farmers Day from the Pearl River County Extension Office!

LUCKY LEAVES: LEARN, PLAY & GROW!

We’re trying something new at the Pearl River County Extension Office, and we think you’re going to like this one!

Join us Thursday, October 29, for an evening that combines plants, learning, and a little friendly competition. Throughout the evening, we’ll mix research-based horticulture education with 10 rounds of a classic game of chance, where matching numbers could mean taking home a new plant!

And, of course, what’s a plant-themed game without PLANTS as the prizes? We’re putting together a great mix of houseplants, perennials, seasonal favorites, and more for our winners to take home.

• Thursday, October 29
• 6:00 PM
• Pearl River County Extension Office (835 Highway 26 West, Poplarville, MS)
• $10 program fee

Whether you’re an experienced gardener, a houseplant collector, or just looking for something fun to do, come spend the evening with us!

Call 601-403-2280 to register. Registration and payment are preferred by October 22, and space is limited. Payment can be made at the Extension office with check or money order.

Tag someone you want to bring to Lucky Leaves!

There’s a new agent in the office - but he’s not new to Extension!

We’re excited to welcome Brenton Breland as the Agriculture & Natural Resources Extension Agent for Pearl River County!

Brenton comes to Pearl River County after serving as an ANR Extension Agent and County Director in Pike County. He holds a master’s degree in horticulture and brings experience in horticulture, agriculture, and community-based Extension programming.

For Brenton, this move is also a homecoming. A native of Pearl River County, he is excited to be back in his home community and looks forward to working with local producers, homeowners, gardeners, youth, and community partners throughout the county.

Be sure to stop by the office and say hello. Also, keep an eye on our page for upcoming programs and opportunities!
