Please note that Chestnut St., Broad St., and Arnold Ave. will be completely closed to thru-traffic to ensure the safety of children Trick-or-Treating.

The time is set.

I also discussed with Council closing a few streets to anyone who does not live on said streets to reduce the traffic while children are out. We all agreed it would be safer to close the 3 most visited streets. They are Arnold, Broad, and Chestnut.

There will still be police patrol on the street, but traffic should be drastically reduced and in turn increasing safety.

There will be more to come for fun after the trick or treating as plans come together.

SPEED LIMIT CHANGE ON N. MAIN ST.
On September 14, the Borough Council voted to change the posted speed limit on North Main St. from Taber Ave. to Park Lane Dr. from 35 mph to 25 mph. The new signs have been installed by the Public Works Department.

***UPDATE***
Due to the recent weather, Hawbaker is now tentatively planning to mill Hillside Ave. on Thursday, September 24 with paving occurring on the 28th and 29th.

The Public Works Department will be milling portions of roadway throughout the Borough this week and completing asphalt patching next week. Please use caution when approaching an active work zone. Also, on Thursday, September 10, the new beams for the Arnold Ave. Bridge will be delivered. Expect delays on Main St. at the Arnold Ave. intersection and along Arnold Ave.

Tonight's Concert on the Square has been canceled due to weather.

Tomorrow, August 11, PennDOT will be paving a portion of S. Main St. from the Kwik-Fill to the Route 155 bridge. There will be no parking permitted on S. Main St. during this time. Please plan for delays during construction.

Port Allegany Borough is selling road millings for $27/ton. Delivery is available for free in and up to 1 mile of the Borough. Please contact the Borough Office during regular business hours to order.

The Port Allegany Zoning Hearing Board will hold a Variance Hearing on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 2:00 pm in the Council Chambers. The purpose for the Hearing is to consider the request to allow 1st-floor residential units in the Central Commercial District at 8 N. Main St. The public is welcome to attend. Anyone wishing to provide comment that cannot attend the meeting can email Jeremy Morey, Borough Manager at [email protected], provide comment during regular business hours at the Borough Office or put comments in the payment drop box.
