🐾90 ANIMALS, COUNTLESS HELPING HANDS!

Another successful Rabies Vaccination Clinic in the books for our West Baton Rouge Animal Control team.

With the help of our dedicated staff and amazing volunteers, we were able to provide an important service to pet owners while helping our furry friends stay happy, healthy and protected.

Our team successfully vaccinated 78 dogs and 12 cats, ensuring each animal was safely and comfortably handled throughout the process. It takes teamwork, patience and dedication to make an event like this possible.

From right here in West Baton Rouge to as far away as Hammond, pet owners traveled to take advantage of this opportunity! We were proud to serve not only our residents but also pet owners from surrounding parishes and beyond.
A huge THANK YOU to our Animal Control team, volunteers and everyone who came out to make this clinic another success!

Because protecting our pets means protecting our community, one paw at a time! 🐾

West Baton Rouge Mosquito Control will be conducting spray truck operations this week to address a WNV-positive mosquito sample. Details are provided in the original post.

🦟Good Monday afternoon, everyone. Last week, we submitted 32 mosquito samples to the LSU Disease Diagnostic Lab for testing; 1 sample tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV). The positive sample came from a trap site in the central area of WBR Parish and includes portions of spray zones S1, C2, and C4.

🦟Per our standard procedure, enhanced control measures, including daytime larviciding and multiple nighttime spray-truck missions, will focus on the area with the positive sample this week. Spray truck operations will begin tonight and roll through Wednesday night (weather permitting).

🦟Environmental factors are still favorable for possible WNV transmission to humans. While July and August are typically the peak months for WNV activity in Louisiana, the threat of WNV transmission to humans can last well into October and November as well. We will be doing our part this week to mitigate the threat of mosquito-borne disease to our citizens. We urge you to do your part by eliminating mosquito breeding around your home and protecting yourself and your family from mosquito bites.
1. Empty all containers weekly.
2. Remove harborage and eliminate or treat all standing water on your property.
3. Remember to wear long clothes if possible.
4. Use a good mosquito repellent (DEET or Picaridin in a 15 to 20% solution).
5. Limit activity at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.
6. Eliminate any entrances into your home, such as broken window/door screens and gaps around window AC units.

🦟Click on the map link to see zones scheduled for spray truck operations and positive sample locations. Check back for weekly updates, and remember to be a Skeeter Be**er!
