⚠️ **WEATHER UPDATE – NOR’EASTER CONTINUES TO IMPACT OUR AREA**

The Port Chester Fire Department continues to monitor the significant coastal storm impacting Port Chester, Rye Brook, and the surrounding area.

As we move through Saturday evening and overnight, residents should remain prepared for strong winds, heavy rain, coastal flooding, downed trees and wires, and possible power outages.

🌧️*HEAVIEST RAIN EXPECTED OVERNIGHT

The heaviest and most persistent rainfall is expected during the overnight and early morning hours, particularly between approximately 1:00 AM and 8:00 AM Sunday.

Residents are encouraged to use extra caution overnight and during the early morning hours. Heavy rainfall may result in localized flooding, ponding of water on roadways, and reduced visibility.

🚨 CURRENT WEATHER ALERTS:

💨 WIND ADVISORY – Until 6:00 AM Sunday
Strong winds will continue across the area, with gusts potentially reaching 55 MPH. Residents should secure loose outdoor objects and remain alert for falling tree limbs, downed trees, and power lines.

🌊 COASTAL FLOOD WARNING – Until 6:00 PM Sunday
Coastal flooding remains a significant concern, particularly in low-lying and waterfront areas. Residents should avoid flooded roadways and never drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.

⚠️ STATE OF EMERGENCY REMAINS IN EFFECT

Westchester County remains included in New York State's State of Emergency due to the ongoing storm.

Residents are urged to continue taking this storm seriously, especially during the overnight and early morning hours.

• Never drive through flooded roadways.
• Stay away from downed trees, wires, and utility poles.
• Keep phones and essential devices charged in case of power outages.
• Secure outdoor objects that could become airborne.

⚠️ **MAJOR WEATHER ALERT – NOR’EASTER TO IMPACT OUR AREA THIS WEEKEND**

The Port Chester Fire Department is urging residents to prepare for a significant coastal storm expected to impact Port Chester, Rye Brook, and the surrounding area throughout the weekend.

A slow-moving nor’easter is expected to bring a prolonged period of heavy rain, strong winds, coastal flooding, and the potential for downed trees and power outages.

🚨 CURRENT WEATHER ALERTS

💨 WIND ADVISORY
In effect through 6:00 AM Sunday. Winds of 20–25 MPH with gusts up to 55 MPH are possible. Strong winds may bring down tree limbs and power lines and could result in scattered power outages.

🌊 COASTAL FLOOD WARNING
A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for Southern Westchester through Sunday evening. Flooding is expected in vulnerable waterfront and low-lying areas, particularly around periods of high tide.

🌧️ HEAVY RAIN
Periods of rain are expected through the weekend. Heavy rainfall combined with elevated coastal water levels may result in flooding of roadways and other low-lying areas.

⚠️ STATE OF EMERGENCY
New York State has declared a State of Emergency for Westchester County, New York City, and Long Island ahead of the storm.

Residents should take this storm seriously and prepare before conditions deteriorate.

• Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, garbage cans, and other loose objects.
• Charge cell phones and portable battery packs in preparation for possible power outages.
• Avoid unnecessary travel during the worst conditions.
• Never drive through flooded roadways or around barricades.
• Stay away from downed trees, wires, and utility poles.

Fall is upon us!

Before using your fireplace or wood stove, the Port Chester Fire Department encourages you to have your chimney inspected and cleaned by a qualified professional. Creosote buildup, blockages, and damage can increase the risk of a chimney fire and keep smoke or carbon monoxide from venting properly.

Burn only dry, seasoned wood, keep anything that can burn away from your fireplace or stove, and make sure your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are working.

If you suspect a chimney fire, get everyone outside and call 911. Stay outside until firefighters say it is safe to return.

A little preparation this fall can help keep your family safe all season long.

At approximately 7:00 p.m. tonight, 60 Control dispatched the Port Chester Fire Department to Irving Avenue and Perry Avenue for a reported motor vehicle fire next to a building.

Engine 60 was first to arrive and found a work van on fire in close proximity to the structure. Firefighters quickly deployed a hose line and began attacking the fire. During the operation, crews discovered that the van’s fuel tank had been compromised. Foam was applied to help extinguish the burning fuel, and the fire was knocked down.

Crews remained on scene to finish extinguishing the fire and cleared the area at approximately 8:00 p.m.

At approximately 4:20 a.m. this morning, the Port Chester Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial fire alarm at 20 Broad Street, Rinconcito Salvadoreño Restaurant.

Tower Ladder 2 arrived first and encountered smoke and flames coming from the front of the building, prompting an upgrade of the alarm. Further investigation determined that a flower planter attached to the exterior was burning, with minor extension into the structure.

The activated smoke detector pictured played a critical role in saving this building. Its early detection resulted in the Fire Department being notified while the fire was still limited, allowing crews to quickly extinguish it before it could spread throughout the building.

Crews opened the affected wall and thoroughly checked for any additional fire travel. No injuries were reported.

This incident is an important reminder that properly installed and maintained smoke detectors and fire alarm systems save lives and property.
