A week ago today, deputies from the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for a disturbance outside of a convenience store in Hermanville, Mississippi. Deputy Sheriff Terrian Bailey was working to disperse a large crowd that gathered after the Hermanville Day Festival ended. That was when someone opened fire in the direction of the crowd, wounding both Deputy Bailey and a female bystander.

It was reported that the round that struck Deputy Bailey entered just a centimeter below the protective area of his body armor. Both victims were rushed to the hospital but Terrian was unable to saved. As of today, investigators are still working to identify and apprehend the suspected shooter.

45-year old Deputy Terrian Bailey proudly served the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department for six years. Terrian thrived in the company of family and friends, whether indulging in his love for football, tailgating, cooking, and making others laugh. His spirit will forever echo in the hearts of those he touched. Deputy Terrian Bailey leaves behind a loving wife, five children, and four grandchildren. He will be laid to rest this weekend.

COMMUNITY CALL TO HONOR DEPUTY TERRIAN BAILEY

This evening approximately 2:15, we are asking the citizens of Claiborne County and surrounding communities to come out and stand along U.S. Highway 61 as we honor Deputy Terrian Bailey on his final journey home to Claiborne County.

The procession will travel north on Highway 61 through the Port Gibson city limits, make a U-turn at Northside Road, and then travel south on Highway 61 to Barnes Funeral Home.

We are asking our community to line Highway 61 safely and respectfully as the procession passes. Bring your flags, stand with your families, and help us show Deputy Bailey’s family the love and support of the community he served.

We will post the estimated arrival and procession time a little later today. We wanted to give everyone advance notice so our community can prepare to come out and stand together in his honor.

Deputy Bailey served his community, and now it is our opportunity to stand for him.

Please remain safely off the roadway and follow the directions of law enforcement personnel.

Let’s line Highway 61 and welcome Deputy Terrian Bailey home with the honor, dignity, and respect he deserves.

Sheriff Frank Davis was truly a pioneer within our community. This video of him sharing his story of how he became Sheriff, despite growing up poor and facing many challenges along the way, is one that we all should take the time to listen to.

His journey is a powerful reminder that where you start in life does not determine where you can go. Sheriff Davis overcame obstacles, served his community, and left behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
