Storm Damage Reporting-Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT)
https://damage.tdem.texas.gov/
The survey helps state and local emergency management officials identify and better understand the extent of storm-related damage across the affected area.
Please submit one survey for each impacted address.
Important: Reporting damage through iSTAT is voluntary. It does not replace filing a claim with your insurance provider and does not guarantee eligibility for disaster assistance.
Please share this information with anyone in Port Neches who may have experienced storm-related damage.

Not every call is routine. Yesterday, C-Shift teamed up with Port Neches Animal Control for one that definitely wasn't — a Code Duck.

Mama duck had her whole crew stuck in a drainage grate, it was pouring rain, and she was NOT happy about it. Rope, a pool skimmer, and some solid teamwork between PNFD and Animal Control later, every duckling was out safe and waddling off with mom — soaked crew included.

Fires, wrecks, or a family of ducks in a storm drain in the middle of a downpour — if the call comes in, we're answering it.

HEAT INDEX HITTING 106°+ THIS WEEK

Beaumont-Port Arthur and Port Neches — we're in for a stretch of dangerous heat. Here's what actually matters:

If you're heading outside:
→ Stay in A/C as much as you can
→ Skip the strenuous yard work or workouts
→ Light-colored, loose clothing
→ Water. Not sports drinks, not soda. Water.
→ Check on elderly neighbors and family — heat sneaks up on people who live alone

Know the difference, because it matters:

Heat exhaustion — dizzy, heavy sweating, nauseous, weak. Get to shade or A/C, loosen clothing, sip water. If it doesn't get better, call for help.

Heat stroke — confusion, no more sweating, they stop responding. This is a 911 call, not a wait-and-see. Cool them down with water or ice while help is on the way.

And please — never leave people or pets in a parked car. Not for five minutes, not with the windows cracked. Interior temps climb faster than people think.

Look out for each other this week.

HEAT ADVISORY — SOUTHEAST TEXAS

Heat index values are climbing to 110-118° across our area toda. That's not a "feels hot outside" number — that's a "your body can't cool itself fast enough" number.

A few things we want every resident to know:

Hydrate before you're thirsty. If you're already thirsty, you're already behind.

Working outside? Take breaks in the shade every 20-30 minutes. Heat stress builds faster than people expect, especially for anyone doing yard work, construction, or athletics.

Never leave kids, pets, or anyone in a parked car. Cabin temps can jump 20+ degrees in just 10 minutes, even with windows cracked.

Check on elderly neighbors and anyone without reliable A/C. Heat-related illness hits older adults hardest and fastest.

Know the warning signs. Heavy sweating, dizziness, nausea, or confusion mean it's time to stop, cool down, and get fluids immediately. If sweating stops and skin feels hot and dry, that's heat stroke — call 911.

Stay smart, stay cool, and look out for each other this week.
