🏈 **Friday night lights, Saturday tailgates, and Sunday football!**

Football season brings plenty of opportunities to get together, cheer on our favorite teams, and enjoy time with family and friends.

But while we're making game-day memories, let's make sure we're also setting the right example for our younger fans.

Parents and adults, keep alcoholic beverages secured and out of reach, talk with teens about underage drinking, and make responsible choices when celebrating.

Because the best game-day tradition is making sure everyone gets home safely! 🏈

🚨 **OFFICIAL NOTICE: SPECIAL INCIDENT REPORT FILED** 🚨

The Port Royal Police Department's Community Outreach Division has identified a situation of significant concern.

After a preliminary assessment of our Halloween preparations, we regret to report that our candy supply has reached **DANGEROUSLY LOW LEVELS.** 🍬

With TWO upcoming Trunk or Treat events and hundreds of little ghosts, goblins, superheroes, and princesses counting on us, this situation requires immediate attention.

**The facts are as follows:**

📋 Candy reserves: CRITICALLY LOW

📋 Number of upcoming events: TWO

📋 Potential for disappointed trick-or-treaters: UNACCEPTABLE

📋 Community assistance: URGENTLY REQUESTED

We are asking our community to help us resolve this matter by donating bags of individually wrapped Halloween candy.

📍 **Drop off:** Port Royal Police Department during normal business hours.

📦 **Can't make it by?** You can even have candy delivered directly to the department!

Due to the seriousness of this situation, further investigative action may be necessary.

**This case remains OPEN.** 👀

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of large quantities of Halloween candy is encouraged to come forward.

Preferably with the candy. 😂🍫

**Please share this report. The future of Halloween may depend on it.**

🚦 Traffic Tip Tuesday | Pedestrian Safety Month

All month long, we’re using Traffic Tip Tuesday to highlight ways drivers and pedestrians can help keep each other safe.

This week’s reminder: parking lots are traffic areas too.

Parking lots can get busy quickly, especially during fall events, school activities, shopping trips and community gatherings. Drivers should slow down, watch for pedestrians between parked vehicles and check carefully before backing out.
Pedestrians should stay alert, use designated walkways when available and never assume a driver sees you.

Slow down. Look around. Share the space safely. 💙

Meet Cpl. McMullen, School Resource Officer at Riverview Charter School!

Cpl. McMullen is beginning her fourth year with the Port Royal Police Department. During her time with PRPD, she has enjoyed connecting with local businesses, learning more about the resources available in our community, and building relationships that help her better serve the people around her.

For Cpl. McMullen, being an SRO is about the opportunity to teach, inspire, and connect with students while learning from them along the way. She enjoys the variety the role brings and the chance to be part of the students’ day in a positive way.

Originally from Jersey City, New Jersey, Cpl. McMullen says she enjoys new experiences and opportunities that allow her to continue learning and growing.
That commitment to growth continues outside of work as well. Cpl. McMullen is currently completing her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and is set to graduate in December. 🎓

We’re glad to have Cpl. McMullen representing PRPD at Riverview Charter School and helping build positive relationships with students, staff, and families every day.

Riverview families — help us show Cpl. McMullen some love in the comments! 👋💙

💚 World Mental Health Day

Today, we join communities around the world in recognizing World Mental Health Day.

This year’s theme, “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change,” reminds us of the importance of listening to and learning from those with lived experience of mental health challenges.

Mental health affects our families, friends, coworkers, neighbors and first responders. Creating communities where people feel heard, supported and comfortable asking for help is something we can all be part of.

If you or someone you know needs emotional support, the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7. Call or text 988 to connect with a trained counselor.
