I had a sweet parent ask today at our meeting, "Where do the PTO funds come from?", and we thought it would helpful to clarify to everyone here.
Throughout each school year, we do different fundraisers to help replenish funds that we use for students and staff.
Last year, for example, we had three different 'Dine to Donate' give-back nights which raised us just under $700. We also sold discount cards, which raised us just over $4200... Our Tat-the-Staff fundraiser raised $1100 in just 5 days... We sold dinosaur balloons at 'Dino Nite' for OneSchoolOneBook and made just under $965 in less than 2 hours. These were fantastic events that brought in a very impressive amount of money that helped to offset the cost of running the events.
We also do special events like movie nights, which are rather low cost and can be quite profitable when we sell concessions. And in the past we have done smaller scale things like sell 'Candy Grams' at Christmas time.
Our PTO has been so lucky to have such a supportive system within the Jones community, and we look forward to continue these types of events and fundraisers to help our students and staff :)

*POPCORN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED*
First off, I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all of the volunteers we've had so far this school year that have helped with popcorn. We couldn't do it without you!
We have one more popcorn Friday in October which is filled, but we do need more volunteers for a Friday in both November and December.

Hi everyone!
Here is a rundown of what was discussed at today's meeting:

-pumpkin carving night: we spent $135.49 on supplies (carving kits, snacks, raffle basket items)
-AR snowcone party: we spent $106.46 on ice, spoons, napkins, cups, and squeeze bottles for the flavors
-other misc. expenses: we were able to purchase pumpkins for the PreK kiddos, a total of $190. We also purchased snacks and drinks for Mrs. Hufford to have for the after school clubs
-appreciation day costs: we spent $45.37 on teacher assistant appreciation day, and $60 for custodian appreciation
-discount cards: we will be filling envelopes to send home very soon so we can start the process of selling cards. This year we decided to sell for $10
-candy wars: PTO will be funding the pizza party for the winning class, most likely the first week of November
-Trunk or Treat: there are 13 cars signed up so far for a trunk. Tocayos food truck will be there. Mrs. Slack is working on getting candy runners/refillers
-Teacher conference lunch: PTO will be providing a catered lunch for all staff in the building on November 2nd
-Veteran's Day: PTO will be providing donut holes, water, and coffee
-Movie night: we are going to host our first movie night in November, on Friday the 13th! Thought it could be fun to try a new week night and have a fun theme to go with it.
-Java for Jones: we wanted to try selling coffee and treats in the morning lines at school. Date TBD
-Title 1 Family Game Night: will be on November 17th; PTO will be providing cookies and a drink. Official flyer to come out in ParentSquare soon

***POPCORN UPDATE***
Hi everyone and happy Tuesday!
So far this year, PTO has spent $567.68 on popcorn supplies, and has made a total of $591.50 on sales!
Even though the profit margin is low, we know that everyone at Jones, students and staff alike, loves the tradition of getting fresh popped popcorn every Friday...And the smell is like no other.

Today, our wonderful PTO volunteers donated supplies and offered their time to make snowcones for the quarter 1 AR celebration! Thank you ladies!

FYI for anyone in need. We have a small pantry in front of Jones with the Little Free Library, but this larger food pantry in town distributes every Thursday. It's right off Willowcreek, South of route 6, in the government complex.
