First Responder Friday - Honoring Those Who Serve Us

Today for First Responder Friday, we have Alanna Gersbach, a Senior Dispatcher in the Portales Communications Center. She has been a Dispatcher since 2019, and joined the Portales Communications Center in 2025. Growing up, she watched her father serving as an officer and knew she wanted to make a change and help her community.

When asked what she loved most about her job, she told us that she loves her community and values the opportunity to give back to the community, especially during the hard times. Her advice for anyone considering dispatch as a career? You cannot control the storm on the other end of the line, but you can be the anchor.

Alanna, thank you for all you do for the City of Portales. We appreciate the work that you do on a daily basis!
