Recently we got to work alongside Depave to turn pavement into possibility. 🌱
Together with our Workforce Team, we removed pavement to make way for new green space in East Portland, creating a place that will be cooler, and more welcoming for our neighbors. This is what it looks like to build community from the ground up.

Here is our Health & Hygiene schedule for the week.
🚿We will be at Pilgrim Lutheran Church on Monday the 19th; PDX Saints Love Day Center and El Jardín Recovery Center (Hillsboro) on Tuesday the 20th; WeShine Village and El Jardín Recovery Center (Portland) on Wednesday the 21st; PDX Saints Love Day Center and Freedom Foursquare Church on Thursday the 22nd; and All Saints Episcopal on Saturday the 24th.
🧼Resources at all sites will be from 11 am - 2 pm. We will have showers, clean clothing, and hygiene products.
🚿The stationary hygiene hub located at Cultivate Initiatives (14625 SE Stark St.) is also open from 10:30 am - 3 pm Monday through Friday this week, offering showers, hygiene resources, and laundry services.

We’re grateful for the incredible partners who work alongside our Health & Hygiene team.Through partnerships with Concordia University, Sumner College, and Linfield School of Nursing, nursing students and instructors provide wound care, basic health assessments, and follow-up support for our unhoused neighbors. These partnerships provide accessible, compassionate care while giving future nurses meaningful experience and a deeper understanding of people with different lived experiences. Thank you to the students, instructors, and programs who continue to show up, listen, learn, and care alongside us.

Here is our Health & Hygiene schedule for the week.
🚿We will be at Pilgrim Lutheran Church on Monday the 12th; PDX Saints Love Day Center and El Jardín Recovery Center (Hillsboro) on Tuesday the 13th; WeShine Village and El Jardín Recovery Center (Portland) on Wednesday the 14th; PDX Saints Love Day Center and Freedom Foursquare Church on Thursday the 15th; and All Saints Episcopal on Saturday the 17th.

We were delighted to welcome Rep. Rob Nosse to our Workforce Hub! Our team shared their own journeys at Cultivate, from starting as interns in our workforce development program to the work they’re doing with us today. We also got to show off our mural by local artist Art by Alex Chiu whose work Rep. Nosse recognized right away! Thank you, Rep. Rob Nosse, for spending time with our team, listening to their stories, and learning more about the work happening at Cultivate.

Last month, our Workforce crews (Property Stewardship, Community Beautification, Employment Services, and Health & Hygiene) got together to play games and bond as a team.

In what was referred to as the First Annual Workforce Olympics, team members competed in challenges involving water balloons, traffic cones, trash grabbers, and contractor bags. This was an afternoon full of laughter and cheers, and it was a fantastic break for people who work very hard to keep their community clean, safe, and connected.

Last month, our friends Susan and Ernesto graciously hosted a meaningful event in their backyard. Props to their son, Emiliano, whose amazing cooking meant we were surrounded by good company and delicious tacos!
It was a wonderful opportunity for these community members who had not yet heard about Cultivate Initiatives, to learn about the powerful impact we're making together.
Those gathered heard inspiring stories from our team members, Emily and Ty, whose experiences with our support and programs highlighted the important shifts from mere survival to paths of hope and stability.
