The Portland Regional Communications Center - Maine (PRCC) has successfully completed maintenance within the Dispatch Center at the Portland Police Department.

The work, which began on June 15, was completed without any interruption to emergency 911 services thanks to extensive planning and coordination. During the project, calls were temporarily rerouted to alternate locations in Portland and the Cumberland County Regional Communication Center - Maine while dispatch operations continued uninterrupted.

Throughout the maintenance period, our dispatchers continued to answer and process emergency calls, ensuring the community maintained uninterrupted access to critical services. This planned project also provided an opportunity to test Portland’s continuity of operations capabilities by leveraging the public safety technologies and partnerships we rely on every day.

We thank our partners at CCRCC for their assistance and collaboration throughout the project. We also appreciate the public’s patience and understanding, and we are grateful to our dispatch staff and partner agencies whose professionalism and dedication ensured seamless service throughout the maintenance period.

Thank you for your continued support.

The Portland Police Department is proud to congratulate several members of our Communications Center who were recognized with Maine EMS Phoenix Awards for their outstanding work in helping save lives.

The Phoenix Award honors licensed clinicians and dispatchers whose skills, knowledge, and actions contributed to the successful resuscitation of patients experiencing non-traumatic out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, giving those patients the opportunity to continue living neurologically intact lives.

We proudly recognize:
• Telecommunicator Sanela Napijalo – call on September 27, 2025
• Telecommunicator Isabella Saucier – call on February 17, 2025
• Reserve Telecommunicator Shannon Locascio – calls on September 17 & November 3, 2025

Congratulations Seth!!

The Portland Police Department is proud to recognize telecommunicator Seth Glidden (middle of photo) as our Civilian of the Month for December.

Seth recently de-escalated a situation where a female with likely behavioral health issues was in a panicked state. His skills helped calm the situation as he was able to communicate next steps for her to receive further assistance.

Seth is always approachable and serves as a valuable trainer for new hires, regularly providing assistance to anyone in the room.

Congratulations Seth!
