A Multnomah County jury convicted Deming Oakleaf of the murder of Roman Shulishov last week. MCDA would like to highlight and thank Detective Chris Stephens for excellent police work on the case. Oakleaf has not yet been sentenced. To see our full release go to mcda.us.

District Attorney Nathan Vasquez spoke in general terms about the incident that happened at Benson High School on September 8, 2026. Juvenile laws in Oregon prevent us from saying much about the case outside the courtroom.
But Portland Police report the teen, is charged with in association with mixing potentially deadly chemicals together inside the school. He faces numerous serious charges. He is charged with 10 counts of Attempted Aggravated Murder, Attempted Murder in the First Degree, Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Domestic Terrorism in the First Degree, Domestic Terrorism in the Second Degree, Unlawful Manufacturing of Destructive Device, Unlawful Possession of a Destructive Device, Possession of a Weapon in a Public Building, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

Raul Nava terrified customers of a NW Portland pizza establishment then held Portland Police Bureau at bay for there hours. Today he was sentenced to 19 months in prison.

A Portland area man preyed on vulnerable women in 2023. Then three of them came forward to stop him. Now he's on his way to prison for 20-years. We thank those three for their courage and inner strength. You have protected others from this man.

Two years ago a woman was putting out her recycling in front of her home in Southeast Portland. An 18 year old neighbor who she knew ran up and shot her- ending her life. He also shot at her partner but missed. Now the shooter is heading to prison.

Jesse Calhoun, accused of murdering five Portland area women is now charged with the death of a sixth woman, Elizabeth 'Libby' Gibson. A grand jury indicted him on the charge of Manslaughter September 15, 2026. Here is a news conference from MCDA announcing the charge.

A Portland area foot doctor accused by 13 women of sexually abusing them during their treatment was sentenced to 100 months in prison (8-years 4 months) on Sept 11, 2026.
Dr. Brian Bowen, 52-years-old, was convicted of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree during a court trial on June 17, 2026, and then pleaded guilty to an additional 10 misdemeanor counts of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree. Read the entire release at MCDA.US (reposted to fix video issue)
