Known nationally for being one of the top detachments in the country, Detachment 695 is a place for aspiring Air Force officers to grow and develop. Cadets learn how to manage their time, work under pressure, and make sound judgments in all types of situations. The motto of Detachment 695 is Ignis Intus, which means “The Fire Within.” Each cadet has an inner fire that is cultivated and fed here at University of Portland. Detachment 695 prepares young men and women to be some of the finestofficers commissioned into the United States Air force, and that is no light undertaking.

Attention to detail starts here.
This LLAB, our cadets took on Open Rank Inspection (ORI) procedures. The newest cadets built a foundation in ORI fundamentals while reinforcing their drill. Our basic cadet leaders practiced advanced drill and showed how they think critically while commanding a flight.
Leadership isn’t just knowing the procedure. It’s being prepared, thinking on your feet, and helping the person next to you get better. That’s how we build future officers.
.
.

Almost Friday! 🦸‍♂️

09/30/2026

This week, BC cadets focused on command practice through stationary drill, basic marching, and column movements. The goal is the confidence and reps to perform the as a flight commander.
Our BCL cadets moved from planning to action. they took on leadership reaction problems that strengthened their communication and teamwork under pressure. Then they performed transits across campus to round out the day’s training.
Our POC cadets led the day by executing training plans and developing effective teaching methods.
Progress doesn’t happen all at once. It happens one rep, one plan, and one lesson at a time.
.
.
