We are so excited to announce that the Board of County Commissioners has officially adopted the Climate Justice Plan!

This plan has been years in the making, and we couldn't have done it without all the support and guidance from our community. Thank you to everyone who came out to testify and support the plan, and thank you to everyone who has helped make this plan a reality over the last few years!

Adoption is just the start - the County now has a clear roadmap and strategies to tackle the climate crisis, ensuring everyone in Multnomah County has the tools, resources, and environment to live a healthy and fulfilling life. But the County can't do it all alone. Our continued collaboration with the community will be vital to putting the Climate Justice Plan into action.

We look forward to working together to make our goals into reality.

The Climate Justice Plan is a hopeful community vision for a future built on shared priorities. On August 27th, the Board of County Commissioners will once again consider plan adoption. The Climate Justice Plan is headed back to the Board for final adoption. Join us virtually next Thursday for the Board of Commissioners vote. Once the plan is adopted, it's GAME ON to start implementing the strategies we've created as a community!

With the increase in wildfires and smoke across Oregon, we are reminded more than ever of the disastrous effects of climate change. It is vital that we, as a community, work together to combat the effects of this crisis, particularly for our communities and neighbors most impacted.

The Board of County Commissioners will be voting to adopt the Climate Justice Plan – which includes strategies to address extreme weather like the heat and poor air quality we are currently experiencing – on August 27. Thank you to everyone who participated in the Climate Justice Plan board meeting last week! Whether you sent in written testimony, testified in-person, attended the meeting, or watched from home – we appreciate your support. We’d like to extend a very special thank you to our speakers Marcus Munday, Duncan Hwang, Vivian Satterfield, and Jona Davis for taking the time to come speak to the board in support of the CJP.

We unfortunately ran out of time during the board meeting, so the Board was unable to vote to adopt the plan. We will be reconvening in a few weeks to resume. Stay tuned to learn more.
