Official page for the Portland Aerial Tram. Visit www.gobytram.com for more info. The Portland Aerial Tram opened to the public on Jan. 27, 2007.

Since then, it has made more than 217,000 trips carrying nearly six million riders on the popular aerial conveyance. The cabins, named Walt and Jean, travel 3,300 linear feet between the South Waterfront terminal at 3303 Southwest Bond Avenue, and the upper terminal at OHSU's main campus. Traveling at 22 miles per hour, the Tram cabins rise 500 feet. The Portland Aerial Tram, part of the City’s public transportation system, is one of only two used for urban transit in the U.S. For more information about the Tram, visit www.gobytram.com.

Up in the sky - is it a bird? a plane? No, it's... Super Tram!
If you are looking on Sunday morning, it's most likely the annual Aerial Tram evacuation drill, conducted by in collaboration with Tram staff. Activity will take place from 9 am to noon on Oct. 11, near the tower next to the Darlene Hooley pedestrian bridge.
We've never needed to make use of special evacuation services, but we're glad our partners at Portland Fire & Rescue and our staff are keeping their skills sharp!

The annual Portland Aerial Tram evacuation exercise will be on Sunday, October 11 from 9:00 am to noon.

Portland Fire & Rescue will conduct the exercise at the tram tower located next to Interstate 5. The training allows crews to practice an aerial rescue in the event the tram is stopped for an extended period of time with passengers on board.

We've never had to make use of Portland Fire & Rescue's specialized techniques for an emergency exit but we're glad they're keeping their skills sharp!

We're pretty in pink for Dolly Day in Portland (9-2-5). We hear she never rode the attractions at the park that bears her name, but we bet she'd make an exception for the Tram if she was in town, if only to visit the kids at OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital .

Go by Bike, Go by Tram - they're both great options. And if you sign up for the Community Cycling Center's Cycle Quest (this Sat, 8/29) you can do both for the price of entry. Registration closes at midnight, Friday 8/28.

Don't sleep on this - a summer evening is a great time to ride the Tram. Of course, you could ride it during the day too. Especially if you're going to visit Made Bike Show - get above it all on the Tram.
