Water is our number one natural resource. We depend on safe and reliable water for our food, economy, recreation, fire protection, and life itself.

Portland is fortunate to have some of the best water in the world.

About 1,160 professionals at the city work hard every day to deliver safe drinking water and provide reliable sewer and stormwater services for Oregonians in the Portland area. We balance environmental protections with community needs, advance water conservation practices, protect our water sources, and help ensure the long-term resilience of our region's water supplies.

Mayor Keith Wilson proclaims October 3 to 11 as Water Professionals Appreciation Week.

Join us in expressing support for and celebrating the importance of water professionals.

It was a joy to get out of the office and join 5th graders at Maplewood Elementary School this morning.

They remind me why it’s so important to fight for our city’s renaissance.

The possibilities are endless for these young Portlanders, and it’s our responsibility to make sure they inherit a Portland that is thriving and full of opportunity.

More than a thousand volunteers showed up today to roll up our sleeves, grab some buckets, and give some love to the central Eastside.

93 crews. 244 blocks. 13 zones. Block by block, we picked up trash from the streets and sidewalks.

Let me tell you why.

We’re in this together. We can make a difference. We believe in this town.

I want to give a big shout-out to , , the sponsors, partners, and volunteers who made this possible. Thank you for making our city shine.

Maybe it doesn’t look like much. But every time you do something positive for our city – even picking up a plastic cup – you generate energy that ripples through the community. It also feels good. Our comeback doesn’t start with some anonymous people sitting in a room somewhere.

It starts with you.

Working together is the only way. I am blown away by the love and pride folks have for our city.

The comeback starts with you. Learn more at adoptoneblock.org

Did you know that Portland’s visitor sentiment is at a seven-year high? Since 2025, we’ve added almost 8,000 trips per day into the Central City.

Thank you, to the Sidewalk Ambassadors of for helping to create such a welcoming environment for pedestrians.

We still have work to do, and the community leaders and thinkers on my Central City Roundtable show up energized and ready to continue the upward trajectory of our beautiful city.

With so many milestones on the horizon, like the James Beard Public Market, two concert venues on the Eastside, and several new apartment projects – you better hold on tight for the rocket ride!

Our first responders understand how to meet people where they are. What does this look like? Spend some time with the City’s Portland Street Response professionals, and you see the unique care given to each soul.

Portland Street Response is a vital partner in helping to heal the community. I’m grateful to Stephanie, a Mental Health Crisis Responder, and Casey, an Emergency Medical Technician, for letting me shadow them recently and learning about some of the ways they de-escalate, stabilize, and connect people to services.

If you see someone experiencing a mental or behavioral health crisis, call 911 or 503-823-PSR3 (7773) to request service anywhere in the city.

Portland is fortunate to have the University of Portland, that “beacon on the bluff.” For 125 years now, they’ve instilled in students a sense of purpose and dedication to service.

I know this because I earned my MBA there in 1998.

I've experienced how committed the faculty is to teach and mentor young people who go on to serve, lead, raise families and enrich our city in so many ways after graduating.

Did you know that more than half of UP’s 44,000 alumni live in the Portland metro area?

Portland is so much richer for the UP community, and I’m looking forward to their 125th anniversary dinner this week to mark the start of a year-long celebration!

I hope you can feel the buzz in the air. Portland is a destination, but more importantly, it's our home. It's thrilling to see the passion and creative focus so many people are pouring into our beautiful city.

Today, I welcomed the Consul General of the Republic of Poland, Paulina Kapuścińska, to City Hall. She was visiting us from Los Angeles, and I was happy to present a proclamation commemorating the 30th Annual Portland Polish Festival.

Enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend by sharing in Polish food, folk dance, music and polka contests at the Portland Polish Festival!

Portland's future depends on the type of public-private partnerships that are exemplified at Portland State University. President Ann Cudd recently held a tour for members of my Central City Roundtable, and it was inspiring.

We learned about Propel PSU, which provides infrastructure and resources for aspiring entrepreneurs.

We saw the Vanport Building, which is shared between PSU, the City, Portland Community College, and OHSU.

The new, mass timber crown jewel that is the Jordan Schnitzer School of Art + Art History + Design stands ready to welcome students.

Last but not least, the future Performing Arts + Culture Center will play a big role in downtown revitalization.

A resilient, future workforce is dependent on the high-quality education that Portland State provides.
