We have several members of our team who will not be returning next year due to a reduction in force and life changes. We know that change is hard. Change can also be exciting and a time of growth.

We wanted to share this information with the broader community so you can share your well wishes with these wonderful people and prepare your children for the next year.

Name/Role: Rosemary Allison-Brown, Kindergarten Teacher

Years at Wilkes: 1

Favorite memories at Wilkes: The hellos in the hallways, building a family within my classroom and with my grade team, and watching my students grow into kind, empathetic, and incredibly accomplished humans.

Best advice for our community: Stay kind. Lean on each other. We are all going into the next year with less staff, less funding, and many talented educators taking on new roles. All you have is each other, and those relationships and that kindness is what will make this next year possible.

Favorite Memories: seeing the growth in our kiddos, the hilarious things the kiddos say and do and getting to see my own boys learning and thriving in school.

Advice: Don't sweat the small stuff. Laugh often. There will be days that are difficult and frustrating, but remember, you are amazing.

Name/Role:

Sharon Little

Special Education Teacher

Years at Wilkes: 14

Favorite memories at Wilkes:

Always the students!!

Best advice for Our Community:

Be kind to each other.

Give people grace and compassion. We don’t know what other people (staff and students) are feeling inside or what they are going through.

For many of our students' school is their safe place.

Look for the good.

And….. please limit the amount of time students are on electronic devices. That is my number one recommendation for parents. Also, read to your children every night.

We love you and will miss you.
