PORTLAND, YOU SHOWED UP!

What an incredible evening at our Arts for All Community Open House! After months of planning, it was wonderful to see Multnomah Arts Center filled with people of all ages, exploring, creating, learning and connecting.

Our MAC team tells us it was the largest Open House turnout they’ve ever seen! And we were especially delighted to welcome visitors from across Portland, many discovering MAC for the first time.

A huge thank you to our incredible MAC staff, instructors, arts guilds, volunteers and community partners, including Community Music Center, Inc. and Multnomah Village Bus. Assoc. who brought this evening to life. And to our friends at Portland Parks & Recreation, fellow arts organizations including Art Design Xchange (ADX) and city leaders who joined us in celebrating the importance of accessible arts education.

Most of all, thank you to everyone who came out, tried something new and reminded us why spaces like MAC matter.

Did you capture some favorite moments last night? We’d love to see them! Share your photos and videos, tag Multnomah Arts Center Association, or invite us as a collaborator on your posts so we can help celebrate and share your experiences.

Here’s to more art, more community and more opportunities for Portlanders to create together!

OPEN HOUSE PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: ART IN THE VILLAGE!

We’re excited to welcome Art in the Village to our Arts for All Community Open House this Friday, October 16, bringing the creativity of Multnomah Village’s public art scene to MAC!

Art in the Village was started to create and promote public art in Multnomah Village. Public art not only enriches our neighborhood and inspires creativity, but draws people to new streets and parts of the Village they might not otherwise explore.

Working alongside the Multnomah Neighborhood Association and Multnomah Village Business Association, Art in the Village has helped bring several new murals to the neighborhood over the past year, with more planned for next year.

JOIN THE GUIDED MURAL WALK — 5 PM

Start your evening with a guided mural walk departing from Village Park 3606 SW Troy St at 5 PM and ending at Multnomah Arts Center in time for Open House registration. Portland Street Art Alliance will also be joining the tour!

MURAL MAGIC: FROM IDEA TO CITY WALLS

During the Open House, Art in the Village will lead a workshop exploring how murals come to life, from site selection and approvals to wall preparation, artwork design and methods for scaling a sketch into a large-scale mural.

Attendees will leave with a better understanding of the process and the confidence to tackle a mural project of their own!

YOUR ART COULD BE FEATURED AT MAC!

Art in the Village will also invite artists to submit designs for a 9-foot-wide mural panel to be installed at MAC. The selected design will be traced by Art in the Village, painted during a community paint party and installed at the Center.

Design submissions will be accepted through the end of 2026, and the selected artist will receive a $500 honorarium for their sketch!

We’re grateful to Art in the Village and Portland Street Art Alliance for helping bring public art, creativity and community together, both inside MAC and throughout Multnomah Village.

OPEN HOUSE PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: COMMUNITY MUSIC CENTER!

Music brings people together, and we're delighted to welcome our Portland Parks & Recreation sister program, Community Music Center, Inc., to our Arts for All Community Open House this Friday, October 16!

Since 1955, CMC has helped Portlanders of all ages discover the joy of music through affordable lessons, instrument rentals, concerts and workshops. Based at 3350 SE Francis Street in SE Portland, CMC also brings music education to partner locations throughout East Portland, including schools, libraries and community spaces.

At our Open House, CMC's elementary music-certified instructor Helen Anderson will lead “Loose Teeth” and other musical games in free, 30-minute demonstration classes for ages 4 and up. There will be real instruments to play, so come ready to make some music!

And be sure to enjoy live piano music from CMC in our courtyard as the evening gets underway.

Like MAC, CMC believes in making arts education accessible to more Portlanders. We're excited to bring our creative communities together for an evening of music, art and discovery.
