We love Halloween here - can you tell?! Thursday brought twice the ghouls and spooky opportunities. The morning was our Halloween Fall Luncheon to support Meals on Wheels of Rockingham County with 90+ in attendance. 7 Winners were selected for their Halloween costumes or fun attire to receive a handmade Boo Basket.

The same afternoon, a group headed to Haunted Overload at DeMeritt Hill Farm for a fun daytime walk and tour with park keeper Wallace (who was a fun personality). Everyone loved the artistry of Haunted Overload and were impressed by the incredible structures throughout. Thank you to our volunteers (special thanks to 3 sailors of the USS New Mexico who served our seniors) and staff for making these events possible! Portsmouth Recreation - NH

Our next Shaw Brothers Scholarship for PMAC coming up November 13. All proceeds raised benefit the Portsmouth Music and Arts Center scholarship programming.

Check out these whimsical, beautiful stained-glass bird suncatchers made at Oliveteal Arts studio in town! Karen once again put on a fabulous workshop and everyone loved their birds. One came back saying, "I went to this class to make this as a gift, but now I want to keep it!"

😍 Last week, we celebrated our volunteers off-site at the Community Campus while we had the new carpeting installed. Did you know the Portsmouth Senior Activity Center has 62 volunteers? And, did you know of our 28 ongoing weekly programs, 23 of them are run by volunteers?! This is incredible for any community center and speaks to the heart of our volunteers and the Portsmouth community!

🥰 The group enjoyed getting to know each other, eating pizza, getting a special piece of swag and sharing their capacity at the Senior Activity Center. We cannot thank our volunteers enough. They are the heart of what keeps our center humming with meaningful, wonderful opportunities for our older adults. Without them, we would not have the community we have.

😍 We are looking forward to our next volunteer gathering. 😍

A special day trip last week to visit horses at Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals in Windham, ME. The group loved learning about the rehabilitation of the horses and spending time with Peg Keyser around the grounds. Beautiful weather and a stop to eat lunch before heading back was the cherry on top!

We recognize this was a popular trip and we hear you - animal trips are enjoyed! More to come on other adventures similar to this one.

Gorgeous day last Thursday for the Taste of New England Trip. Thank you to Royal Tours for a unique fall experience eating a delectable lunch at The Inn at East Hill Farm in Troy (people are still raving about the food) and then stops at Red Apple Farm and Smith's Country Cheese. Everyone basked in the sunshine and loved the day out. Marie captured some awesome pics, thanks Marie!
