💙 EVERY DAY COUNTS! 💙
Sciotoville Community School families, please review the infographic below for Ohio’s updated attendance requirements for the 2026–2027 school year.
📌 Excused AND unexcused absences count toward chronic absence, including medically excused absences. Late arrivals and early pickups also add to missed instructional time.
📬 Schools must notify families no later than when missed time reaches 5% of the state-required minimum yearly instructional hours. Schools may contact families sooner to offer support.
🏫 Missing 10% of those hours is considered chronic absence.
⏰ Habitual truancy applies only to unexcused absences and occurs at ANY of these thresholds:
• 30 consecutive hours
• 42 hours in one school month
• 72 hours in one school year
An excused absence does not make a student truant.
Please continue to follow school illness guidelines and your child’s medical advice.
Together, we can help students stay healthy, attend regularly, and succeed!
Report absences promptly, provide required documentation, and contact the school if your family needs help with attendance barriers.
💙 BE HERE • BE READY • BE A TARTAN!
