Literary pumpkins are starting to roll into our Portsmouth Library! Pick a book character, scene, or favorite cover and use your creativity to make a pumpkin masterpiece! All are welcome to enter this pumpkin decorating contest. Submissions will be accepted through October 22. Prizes will be given to the winners of each age group. All Scioto County Public Library locations are currently accepting donations of hats, scarves, gloves, and yarn supplies that will be used for our Giving Trees! Our resident knitting and crochet group, the Yarnaholics, will be making items for their "Warm Up America!" project. Giving Trees will be displayed at all library locations during the winter months to provide warming items to those in need.

You can also join the Yarnaholics to learn how to knit or crochet an item to contribute to our Giving Trees! All skill levels are welcome. Classes are offered on Thursdays through November 19th at our Portsmouth Library from 5:30-7:30PM. For more information about the project and for the group's full schedule, call 740-354-5688.

Regular Meeting – 12:30pm

Anyone wishing to speak at a meeting shall register with the Scioto County Public Library by submitting a request with your name, contact info, the subject to be addressed and which meeting you wish to speak - either in writing/print to staff or emailing to [email protected] no later than Monday, October 19, 2026 by 5:00pm. All speakers will have 3 minutes to address the Board. Meetings are open to the public except in the event of an executive session.

LIBBY UPDATE!! Beginning Wednesday, October 21, Libby users will be required to enter a library account PIN, along with their library card number. Your library PIN is the same PIN that you use to log into our online catalog system.
