GKB ACCOMPLISHMENTS!!

Good afternoon, GKB Family! Today we are celebrating the accomplishment of one of our MSIVs; CDT Dylan Yeung. Yeung has received his Order of Merit List (OML) ranking and has achieved 25th out of 5254 cadets nationwide. OML is based on cumulative GPA, Army Fitness Testing (AFT) scores, CST performance, and Commander's Ranking.
Yeung has successfully gone above and beyond in the GKB, the classroom, and his extracurriculars. He has a 4.0 GPA, double majoring in Biochemistry and Biology with a minor in chemistry. He is an EMT for the local Potsdam Rescue Squad and is in the process of applying for med school, and he has achieved a perfect score on nearly every AFT since he began as an MSI. Congratulations to CDT Yeung on this outstanding accomplishment!

Good evening GKB family! Here is our Week 7 recap:

Last Thursday, the Cadets of the Golden Knight Battalion conducted squad attack lanes in the Back 40. Cadets used paintball guns to simulate live‑fire conditions and applied the tactics they have developed throughout previous labs and our fall FTX. Another solid training day in the books, sharpening confidence, teamwork, and tactical skills.

This weekend the GKB also sent a team to compete in Army Ten Miler in Washington D.C. this last weekend. More on that to come...

Last week at the Golden Knight Battalion...

The Cadets of the GKB are officially halfway through the fall semester of 2026. Last week they tackled their Warrior Skills 2 tactical lab where they were introduced to essential medical skills including casualty movement, care under fire, and the field application of tourniquets, chest seals, and wound packing. They also closed out the week by posting the colors at the St. Lawrence University football game against Union on Friday evening.

While they have been putting in the work out in the Back 40, they have also been grinding through midterm exams, projects, and assignments. A busy season, but the Cadets continue to rise to the challenge and push forward with discipline and purpose.

Last week at the Golden Knight Battalion...

2nd "Freedom" Brigade Commander Colonel Michael E. Erlandson visited the GKB to meet the CDTs, have lunch, and offer his experience and advice to the upcoming leaders of the United States Army.

Following the BDE CDR's visit, the CDTs attended their first FTX of the year at Seven Springs. Over the course of three days, CDTs conducted day and night land navigation, tactical lanes, and utilized the warrior skills they have been practicing over the duration of the semester thus far. To conclude the Fall 2026 FTX, LTC Sowder conducted a contracting ceremony for two of our CDTs. Congratulations to Cadet Tanya Taylor and Cadet Wallace Loonan!

The GKB color guard team also posted the colors for the opening of the Clarkson Women's Soccer Team against SUNY Potsdam for the first time in GKB history.

Lastly, the GKB hosted a recruiting event for Section 10 sports on Cheel Lawn, holding tactical yard games and highlighting the countless opportunities that the GKB and Army ROTC has to offer.

Another successful week at the GKB, and many more to come!

Last week at the Golden Knight Battalion:

Cadets of the GKB have been very busy this last week. Monday and Tuesday consisted of the first battalion AFT. Congratulations to CDTs Yeung (MSIV) and Palmer (MSII) for perfect 500s and CDTs Yeung (MSIV), Kraengel (MSIII), Palmer (MSII), and Ray (MSI) for having the highest scores in their respective MS classes!

Then, our cadets tested their confidence in our annual Rappel Lab, where they learned how to tie Swiss Seats, were instructed on how to rappel from our tower in the Back 40, and learned how to set up a one rope bridge. Thank you to the out of Fort Drum, NY for instructing our cadets!

Finishing off the week, 20 cadets traveled to Fort Drum to complete their virtual marksmanship qualification in the Engagement Skills Trainer (EST) Range.

Much more coming soon as the cadets of the GKB prepare for our fall FTX this weekend...
