Faces of Avenues!
Meet Jacquie!
Jacquie is a Program Specialist/Site Supervisor at our
PossAbilities Central program.
Some people have a way of making everything they touch feel a little more special. Jacquie is one of those people.
Jacquie has been a member of Avenues for 17 years, doing what she loves most, being around the individuals we support, watching them enjoy their time at the program, and celebrating all the little and big victories along the way. For her, seeing their smiles, excitement, and sense of accomplishment makes it feel less like work and more like being exactly where she belongs.
And if youâve ever needed an extra set of hands, chances are Jacquie has been there. From cleaning out the old daycare to building a parade float to planning Trunk or Treat, sheâs the kind of person who jumps in wherever sheâs needed. Not for recognition, but because she genuinely wants to help make things better and create something special for the people around her. She has a warmth about her that makes you feel it, and a heart that shows it.
When Jacquie thinks of what she wants people to remember about Avenues, the Duck Race comes to mind. To her, itâs so much more than a fundraiser. Itâs a chance to bring our community together, shine a light on the individuals we support, and celebrate the difference Avenues makes in so many lives.
Jacquie is always thinking of new fun experiences for PossAbilities and Avenues. With $500, sheâd bring local bands and singers to the ATF program because, as she puts it, one thing everyone has in common is a love for music. With unlimited funds? Sheâd throw an end-of-summer Fun Day complete with music, food, games, prizes, and all the fun of a neighborhood block party. Sounds like a pretty awesome day!
When sheâs not at Avenues, Jacquie is busy with family life, taking her daughter to activities, thrift shopping with friends, and exploring new restaurants with her mom and niece. And if youâre ever wondering what comfort food belongs on her plate, mashed potatoes and meatloaf are the answer!
Jacquie reminds us that making a difference doesnât always mean doing something grand. Sometimes, itâs showing up, lending a hand, sharing a smile, or helping turn an ordinary day into something memorable. And after 17 years, sheâs certainly helped make a lot of days special at Avenues.
