Good to see that Sarah Salem and Megan Deichler march to the tune of the same spin doctor and scriptwriter. How do these posts translate for tenants?—the Council will take the credit, while tenants are left on their own to "engage with judicial proceedings". Then again, Salem's a pro at engaging judicial proceedings—arrested February 26, 2020; yet trial date currently set for March 7, 2022, more than two years later. Ever self-important, never favoring the public, Sarah A. Salem began the Council's new term with an act of deception. The agenda posted to the public is the 2nd graphic, at bottom, with the Mayor's comments listed as the 6th item. But at the Organizational meeting the ENTIRE Council approved a Rules change, shunting the Mayor's comments to the 10th item, near the end of each meeting. Salem did not inform Mayor Rolison about the change. To hear the Mayor's comments, scroll to 47"00 on the webcast. At 51"55, Rolison specifically addresses the Rules revise. Salem's BS explanation can be viewed at 1’00”00 when the meeting resumes. To watch the webcast, click this link: https://totalwebcasting.com/view/?func=VIEW&id=cop&date=2022-01-03&seq=1

My deepest gratitude to all who supported and encouraged my campaign. We share the urgent desire to see this City revive and thrive through transparency and accountability by both Council and City Administration. Unlike any other candidate, my campaign was embraced by a wide spectrum of city residents who have been—and remain—deeply, consistently, knowledgeably involved and dedicated to this City’s diversity, activities, poughtential and life, even as our Common Council and City Administration have done their damnedest to wipe out that involvement.
For those who’ve not yet seen the 8th Ward outcome:
—Laurie Sandow, running a grassroots campaign, took 18% of the 8th Ward votes with broad support spanning all demographics and a wide political spectrum.
—Alana Wade withdrew from the race in mid-September, too late to remove her name from the ballot. Straight Dem-line voting gave her 31% of the votes.
—Megan Deichler—with no record of community involvement and no public platform—rode her covert alliance with Sarah Salem, Sarah Brannen and Evan Menist to take 44% of the votes.
As of November 2, with absentee ballots still being counted:
https://elections.dutchessny.gov/3811-2/
Laurie Sandow (PPK) – 18.08% – 158 8th Ward votes
Alana Wade (DEM, Withdrawn) – 31.01% – 271 8th Ward votes
Megan L Deichler (CF) – 44.62% – 390 8th Ward votes
Write-in – 55 – 6.29%
There’s an old line that says, “The government you elect is the government you deserve.” We’re about to find out whether this city deserves, or will be deserted by, the incoming council: Sarah Salem, Debra Long, Evan Menist, Lorraine Johnson, Nathan Shook, Yvonne Flowers, Natasha Cherry, Nedra Thompson, and Megan Deichler.

If you watched last night's Common Council meeting, then you saw:
1—Sarah Salem botch the Pledge of Allegiance for the 2nd meeting in a row;
2—The Council go into an illegal Executive Session, keeping the public twiddling their thumbs for over an hour;
3—Half the Council disappear midway through the meeting, forcing it to be adjourned long before the agenda was concluded.
It's long past time to say NO to this dysfunctional Council. Vote Laurie Sandow in the 8th Ward on the "People for PK" line. Polls open 6am-9pm.

New York Broadband Assessment (Production) 10/17/2021

New York State has initiated a broadband assessment survey. There are three parts to the site:
—The Frequently Asked Questions and the About Us page provide more information about this project, the benefits to you and where you live and work and the team supporting the project.
—The Speed Test measures how fast your Internet connection is from your home or business. This part takes about a minute or so. If you are not at your home or business, or if you are taking the survey on your cell phone, then please skip the speed test.
—The Assessment is a series of questions, for either home or business, which asks about whether a respondent has Internet access. and how they use it (or would use it.) This part takes about five to seven minutes.
