RETIREMENT:

On October 8, 2026, Sergeant Kevin Brady walked out of Police Headquarters for the final time.

Sgt. Brady was hired by the department on June 18, 2007, and graduated from the Dutchess County Law Enforcement Academy. Throughout his career, he served in numerous roles and made a lasting impact on the development, training, and professionalism of fellow officers.

Kevin served as an FBI/DCJS-certified fi****ms instructor and played an instrumental role in the development of the department’s fi****ms range. He was also an active member and coordinator of the department’s Honor Guard Unit and a longtime executive board member of the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Benevolent Association.

In 2019, Kevin was assigned to the Joint Poughkeepsie SWAT Team, where he served as a Marksman, Operator, and, most recently, Assistant Team Leader.

In March 2025, Kevin was promoted to Police Sergeant and assigned as a first-line supervisor for Squad 1’s patrol shift, where he continued to lead, mentor, and support the officers under his supervision.

Throughout his 19 years of service, Sgt. Brady’s strong ties to the Spackenkill community, the Town of Poughkeepsie, and the surrounding area were a tremendous asset to the department. His local knowledge, established relationships, and commitment to community policing helped strengthen the connection between our officers and the residents we serve.

The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department congratulates Sgt. Kevin Brady on his well-deserved retirement. We thank him for his years of dedicated service, leadership, and commitment to the department and our community.

We wish Kevin and his family a long, healthy, and enjoyable retirement!

Child Passenger Safety Week is September 20–26, 2026!

This week is a great reminder to make sure the children in your vehicle are riding safely and securely every trip, every time.

Take a few minutes to check that:
• Your child is in the right car seat, booster seat, or seat belt for their age, height, and weight.
• Car seats are installed correctly and securely.
• Harness straps are properly positioned and snug.
• Children remain rear-facing as long as their car seat allows.
• Older children use a booster until the vehicle seat belt fits them properly.

Car seats can be confusing, but taking the time to make sure they’re being used correctly can make a lifesaving difference.

Need help with your child’s car seat? The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department has 8 certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians available to assist with proper installation and make sure your child is riding as safely as possible.
